Wouldn't the money be better spent making a garage next to your house? Though the idea seems nice I would rather walk out my door to the garage.

Yes it would - if you can. For a long time, Dad and I rented warehouse space for our cars, as his house was on 1/3 acre and I lived in an apartment, so there was no way to build a garage. A lot of folks have the same problem. Our solution, of course, was to move out to the country!
