Cary Livingston
Southeastern Chapter President
I was spring cleaning this afternoon and got sidetracked after I found a stack of photos in a box. Thought I would share some memories.....
In 1973 as a kid I used to watch Creature Feature on Channel 44 in St Pete Florida. Its host, Dr. Paul Bearer was a sappy individual (on TV) who in a few years made appearances in a 1963 Cadillac hearse (this fact might turn into another story). For years I would watch Creature Feature into my early 20's as a lover of monster and horror movies.
Fast forward to 1986, I was developing a real interest in procars and finally joined the PCS. ( I had info and the application laying around since 1883).
I attended my first International Meet in New Hope Pa in 1987 and was hooked.
Rushing home and flinging open my directory I was determined to start the Florida Chapter. One of the names I had never noticed was Dick Bennick who in fact was Dr Paul Bearer. I called him at his office as he sold radio advertising in central Florida and arranged to hangout with him one day and explained what I was trying to do. He was more than happy to be one of the founding members of the Florida Chapter and also my friend till his death in 1995. Ken Elliott, Pat Brewer and I think Fred Kenfield were the other founding members along with myself.
It's amazing how this picture brought on a flood of memories going back to my childhood
