PCS Past President
My appearance at Albany PCS was pretty much a last minute decision, after a colleague was able to cover my work schedule, allowing me to be away. I had just returned from the CLC Meet in Kansas City, so VISA is certainly going to love me this month!
The cars in Albany were wonderful, but what was REALLY wonderful for me was that the Society has finally turned the tide of almost 10 years of abuse by a certain SoCal former member who sought to seize the reins of the Society and totally disrupt what it was originally chartered to do.
With Albany, it's obvious to me that those days are totally behind us, and I'm overjoyed! Without a doubt, the high spot of the Meet for me was the PEOPLE! I encountered countless long time friends, and made quite a few new ones. The car-chatter I overheard was all in positive spirit, with people attempting to uplift and help other members who may have been having car-related problems. THIS is what the PCS is all about, and I was thrilled to witness it firsthand.
Special thanks to Dan Herrick and his crew for all their hard work. Thanks also to everyone who just plain showed up! Seeing you all was wonderful for me, and I loved renewing old friendships and making new ones.
Procar update: My '54 Eureka, which had recently cracked both heads has been completely repaired and is back to driving like a dream. Let me recommend that you all check your heat risers to make sure they are not stuck or are opening fully! (Mine was the latter problem.) That overheating near the intake manifold caused the cracked heads.
The engine of my '39 Carved Eureka LaSalle has been totally disassembled and shows no radical wear or breakage. The pistons look very good, and will hopefully be reused if honing the cylinders doesn't enlarge them beyond spec. The block is at the machine shop right now, and we'll order parts as needed after that. I'll keep you posted.
