Positive comments

Had my 70 Superior ambulance in a parade this weekend and of course heard that dreaded “Ghost Busters” which got me to thinking we all have heard the stupid negative comments but how about the good comments. So I decided to post some here.
Well how about, “gee great car” or “wow this the coolest car I’ve ever seen.” Now the best one is the hardest to put to print as it is almost impossible to catch the voice inflections of the 3 or 4 year old that shouted out with glee, “Now that’s an ambulance!”:)

Hah, you reminded me of a funny one from this past week. I was at the hotel in Piqua for the M-M meet, and I was wearing my t-shirt from the 2008 meet in Mt. Laurel, with the picture of the blue ambulance.

In the lobby, there was a lady with her 3-year-old son. The boy was staring at my shirt and said nothing for a moment. Then he said "car". OK, it's a car. Then he said, "It needs Rust-eez!" :D

(If you don't get it, that's from the movie "Cars", it's the fictional sponsor of Lightning McQueen, the main race car car-character. Rust-eez is something you put on your rusty bumper to make it shiny so you can show off your bumper!)

OK, that's funny, but how did he know that I was at Mt. Laurel with a blue ambulance that really did have a rusty bumper?!?!?!?

My favorite was not a comment. I have a poster with pictures of my hearse before paint and after soda blasting. I put it out at car shows and cruise in's. I was at a car show and two little boys came over with the dads. The little boys bent over and had a discuss amongst themselves about my hearse. I don't know exactly what they were saying, but it was interesting to watch them.

I think this happened near Harrodsburg, all the meets start to run together. We were in Elmo, and a car with several young children pulled up beside us, they looked to be 8 - 10 years old. They gave us the thumbs up and yelled, "I love your car". Our thoughts were, "Yep, they'll own a procar someday". :D

This is really a good question...

I will have to think if I have ever gotten any good comments.

Unfortunately, most of them have been along the "why would you want to own something like that" lines.

I get it all the time, the great comments about my Lifeliner as I'm sure everyone else does. People are amazed to see a huge car like this and while driving always get people taking pictures and taking videos.
I'm not handsome enough to get this kind attention on my own so I need something like this. :(

remember pulling up to a stop light in Dubuque Ia waiting to cross the river with the 86 limo. a couple in a new vet pulled up along side and the passenger started looking over the car. as the light changes she leaned over and said something to the driver and he looked back and smiled. you very seldom get the vet boys to look at anything but a vet. it was obvious they were admiring the car.

thumbs up

I get a lot of thumbs up when driving the 61 MM. I also get a lot of salutes as other cars or trucks pass by. I think it must be the US Marines sign in the back window and the oval veterans sticker on the bottom of the rear door. One guy went by on my way to Flint and his driver slowed down so he could wave his Marine Corps ball cap at me.
In the rest stops I always get comments and questions. Yes, I explain that the GB cars were 59s. I do it with a smile. One thing you have to remember is that we are all ambassadors for the PCS when we are out in our coaches. I tell them a bit of history about combinations and their use as first aid cars. Most people don't realize some of the uses for these big rides unless you tell them.
When I find someone taking pictures of the car I let them open the doors to look inside. I have even told the kids to sit in the drivers seat while mom or a grandparent takes a picture. Future procar owners? I don't know. I just know the kids really like getting in the car to get a picture taken.

This is a great question. Maybe we should start keeping a diary of comments.

why own one?

Charles,
Why own a hearse, ambulance or limo? Eye catching car. More rare than a lot of the so called rare antique or collectible cars out there. We own a bit of American craftsmanship that is not ofter seen today. Remember many of our cars were built before the computer did the measuring and drawing. Anyone can drive one of the many jelly bean look alike cars out there. Only the chosen can drive a procar.

Mike's prior comment just about sums it up for me.

In the time I had my Hearse I got some wierd comments...The best was from a good Buddy who just kept shaking his head at me and saying "But it's had dead people in it"
