Portland Swap Meet

I attended the Portland Oregon Swap Meet on April 5/6.

Pretty big set-up in 2 locations, the Portland Exposition Center and the Portland International Race Track. Each site has approx 2500 stalls (some vendors take doubles, triples, Quads) with a 5 minute shuttle bus service between the 2 sites.

Only 1 ambulance spotted. This '49 Henney/Packard. Apparently 2 hearses were there but I never saw them. Very little in the way of emergency lights & sirens. A Dietz 4 bulb witha pitted base for $100 that I passed on. A beat-up Federal 12 volt double-tone that the vendor wanted $375 for and wouldn't budge. He also had a Model 28 for $275...too pricey for me.

I did buy a bunch of small cast metal/plastic ambulances/fire trucks to add to my meagre collection.

Next year I'll plan to be there for the first day of the Race Track Meet (Thursday) and then be at the Exposition Center for their first day (Friday)

Thanks for the report, Bill. I haven't been to the Portland Swap meet in years (decades). I'm glad it's still happening in this age of internet selling.

Had a friend call early AM asking if he should spend $40 for a found Beacon Ray with a good chrome uncut base, nice tag, and a cracked red dome. Needless to say he bought it...

Too much time has now passed to recall model but pretty sure it was a 183.

Henney not for sale

The Henney wasn't for sale. It's what the vendor brought his goods in and slept in while at the meet.
