Photos of my destroyed hearse !!!

SLOW DOWN YOUR HEART RATES GUYS AND GALS !!!!!

Luckily it is just my Johan model that I built as a young 11 year old boy.

I took my model to display at the 2011 PCS meet in Hudson.
I was very careful to pack it well and get it there without breaking it.

After returning from Hudson, I left the model on the front seat of my '60 S/S
so I could keep it safe from being broken before putting it back on the shelf
where it has sat safely for about 35 years !

Well you all know how hot it was before and after Hudson. I guess being in a
black car with the sun shining on it, it got super hot inside the hearse.

Hot enough to melt my pride and joy !!! :4_11_9:

I treasured this model as it was what got me interested in procars and
eventually the PCS. And mostly because I built it myself and kept it for 35
years without it being broken.

Well, now all I have is the memory of it with a melted display piece.

Last year after Albany, my hood flew up at 60 miles an hour on the highway costing me over 2000.00 in damage.

This year after Hudson, my childhood model was melted while sitting on the front seat of my S/S hearse.

:cry::mad::eek::confused2::cuss:

I hope nothing goes wrong after the meet in Florida next year.

Darren

Maybe there should be a return trip aftermath award for the person who has something nasty happen to them on their way home. :17875:

hot in there

Darren,
Sorry you lost your model to the heat. You may be able to use it in a Halloween diorama. Just a thought.
No matter what color the car is the temperature goes way up in the sun. I put a thermometer in my A/C vent once and it read 134 after a few hours parked in the sun. Now I leave the windows down a bit to help the air go out of the interior. You know it is hot when the belt buckles feel like they could be used for branding irons.

Now you know WHY they say NOT to leave your dogs inside a parked car in the summer heat!

Darren if you want to know temp detail's ask kevin or brad if you rember they had the ray teck out and were measuring the temps inside the car's on saturday. I dont rember how hot it was but im sure it could turn a model into a ball of goo. Sorry for you loss Though! You have to admit it looks kind of cool and has a great story behind it.

it's rebuild able and for a lot less then 2 grand. rear top clip is all you need.get the body and you can have it back after 35 years it deserves a touch up

Oh, Darren, I'm sorry to see that. It looks like there's also "frame" damage, so I don't think it's rebuildable at this point. The fallen-tree diorama thing is probably the best idea for it at this point. At least it's better than going to the recycle bin.

I still have the first ambulance model, also a Johan, I built probably 30 years ago. I'd be crestfallen if it melted like that.

A diorama of some sort would be really cool, somewhere i have what remains of the 5 johan kit's i owned 2 hearse's and 3 ambulance's .

OMG thats too.............bad Darren lol...but it does look kind of cool !

I have a piston from my brand new 1275 Cooper S motor that I built 20 years ago...it lasted 3 weeks before melting away and blowing my motor up....I show it off with pride now.

but it does look like a tree fell on it !
