Personalizing Funerals

This is really nothing new. A few years ago, this was all that was talked about at funeral conventions. The last couple of years, the topic is almost forgotten. While it sounds like a great idea, most families still want more of a traditional type of service.

Almost any funeral home who believes in serving families will do whatever the family wants. We have had boats and motorcycles displayed next to caskets, people taken to the cemetery in a buckboard pulled by horses, in the bed of a restored pickup, on the bed of an 18 wheeler...etc. We have buried cremains in a minnow bucket, homemade ceramic bottle, hollowed out log..and so on.

We are in the funeral service business. We are funeral directors, not funeral dictators.

Cremated remains in a minnow bucket !!!

That is outstanding ! Wow, very cool idea.

I may have to use that.

Thanks for posting that comment Bill,

I think that you said it the best Bill!

... Whatever the family wants!

Each and every one of us has different ideas as to how our loved ones should be remembered! I applaud the funeral home that takes that to heart!

Whatever, however I want to be sent on and remembered should be the way! As long as it is within reason (I agree, that is up to interpretation a little)! That is the way I want to be remembered!

I have stopped at the Rock Hill funeral home, because there was hearse outside. I didn't know it was a funeral home until after I stopped. I should stop by and talk to the funeral director.

I personally don't want a "normal" funeral. I am not "normal" in life, so why should I have a "normal" funeral.
