Hello everyone
When I was at the MM meet in Piqua OH in May there was a reporter from the Canadian old car newspaper "Old Autos" there doing a story on the meet.
I was a subscriber about 15 years ago but never renewed. When I got back I renewed with the bi-monthly super thick newspaper packed full of information each issue at the Barrie Automotive Flea Market. Barrie is like Hershey or Carlise but smaller. Old Autos always has a booth at this event that happens twice a year, spring and fall.
Good thing I renewed when I did ! Today my first copy arrived and there it was... the story with photos of the hearses taking up almost the whole page, beside advertizing.
And... on the other side of the paper was a book report on the new MM book by Tom !
And if all that wasn't enough for my first renewed issue... there was a story on Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox toys and a picture of the 1961 Pontiac Criterion ambulance they made.
Plus... there was a story on the Russell Automobile. Super cool because the company who made them was 10 minutes from where I live. They closed in 1983. They built Russell cars around 1911. The company was called
Canada Cycle and Motor or CCM for short. CCM bicycles were to Canadians what Schwinn was to the US before 1982 when they went bankrupt. Crazy how the largest US and Canadian bicycle manufactures went under within a year of each other. Both names have been sold off and are still active with imported bicycles. Both companys, Schwinn and CCM are now Canadian owned in the province of Quebec Canada.
I will have the newspaper in Albany for any of you who want to check it out.
Always a good day when hearses come into play.
Take care and see you all in NY soon,
Darren
