PCS Golden State Chapter member Tom Shafer will be the #6 entry in the Tournament of Roses Parade tomorrow. He will be riding in the front seat (as the mechanic) of a 1925 White built open air touring bus (ex-Glacier National Park). It has 4 seats behind the driver, so they will have 9 people onboard. The passengers are the family of the recently deceased Tournament of Roses president. Tom and his driver will be wearing red jackets. The parade starts at 0800 PST.

All of us at the Golden State Chapter extend our congratulations to our friend Tom, and will be watching in support.

I watched the parade on a couple of channels, and finally spotted Tom on a re-broadcast. The camera zoomed in for a real close shot. He sure looked happy, as he was grinning from ear to ear.

Also....

Also in the parade were Gary and Cheryl Hunter, owners of Leader Industries, one of the tours on Fire/EMS Day of the 2007 International Meet. They were chauffeuring the Mayor of Pasadena in their 1910 Pope-Hartford touring car. Cheryl's grin was almost as big as Tom's.

Host Bob Eubanks must have been reading the wrong page of his script when he referred to the Mayor's ride as a "1927 Cadillac Drop Top".
