Jim Tighe - Deceased 1942 - 2012

March 10, 1964 - April 27 2012
This true story has nothing to do with Pro cars, but I hope you will enjoy it anyway. Evrytime I see the flying-ear dog in Paul's post, I remember a professor I had in college long ago. He was an eccentric, to put it gently. He drove an MG T-Series, the old-fashioned looking MG, and it had right hand drive. He also had a very large dog, maybe an Irish Wolf Hound. Really big puppy. When the prof would go out in the MG, he would slink down in the driver's seat as low as possible, and the dog would sit in the passenger's seat with its paws up on the dashboard. At a glance, it appeared that the dog was driving the little Brit, which was the whole point. The prof delited in the reactions this little charade always got, especially the shocked, near-panic expressions on the faces of little ole lady drivers who saw this tiny car whipping past with a dog driving. IIRC, the dog also wore a big scarf which would of course fly in the breeze, adding to the dramatic effect. It was like a scene from "The Shaggy Dog" movie. Seems a million years ago now.

There were some other interesting prof/car combos, too, incl the econ prof with the '55 DeSoto, the history guy with the very fast '57 Lincoln, and the dapper poli-sci chap ( who had been a CIA spy in Berlin ) with his rakish bronze color '61 Chrysler convertible. Good memories from long ago.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled Pro Car programming. Thanks for listening.

Well, Mike, I dunno. You are not the 1st to suggest that I write one, but I doubt I am up to that sort of project anymore. A woman I worked with years ago wanted me to pen some stories about the bizarre adventures in our Welfare Dept. office, but I never got around to it. However, I do have a very interesting Pro Car-related tale which I hope to post on here ere long. It revolves around the funerals for the Wright Bros., the f.h. which handled those services 37 years apart, and the coach used in the 2nd service. Stay tuned.........

I just had dropped off to work on a 61 chrysler conv last night to work of if you want to see one.
