No exhaust donuts...

I took the Lifeliner in for some exhaust repairs this morning. Turns out I had a leak where the "Y" pipe comes into the exhaust pipe to the rear and leaks at the exhaust manifold outlets.

They had to cut out and replace about 18 inches of pipe on each side from the exhaust manifold outlets but to my surprise, there are no exhaust donuts. The pipe has to fix exactly right and bolted in place. Also had the smaller leak welded close.

While it was on the lift searching for exhaust leaks the gas line from the fuel pump was leaking and had that replaced as well.

Now it is quiet as a church mouse getting closer to being ready for Akron 2011.

Some things came from the factory without gaskets, as both mating surfaces were straight. A common flat exh gasket should work, but glad its sealed up for you without a gasket.

I was wondering when i viewed video from albany and saw certain vehicle's in person at other event's they sounded alittle loud with a rumble. or where running with a test pipe between the manifold and exhaust pipe.

No worries Richard, the flanged type downpipes stay sealed up very well. Swing through Bucyrus when you're at the Ohio International, the exhaust shop down the street can take care of your exhaust being so quiet, they "fixed" that problem on the '66 ambulance it was WAY too quiet :yum:

Richard........
Terri said that you eat too many donuts, and that your exhaust is loud and odoriferous...............:14_6_12:
