Newest problem - starting

Well, if it is not one thing, it is another......

I am now having problems similar to Gary where the car does not start, however, the problem occure on an irregular basis.

It sometimes does not start when the engine is cold, sometimes when the engine is warm. When it does not start, I can hear all of the normal noises as I turn the key until when the enging is to turn over. It sounds almost like when the battery is dead, but they are well charged.

For example, tonight it started no problem, but about a week ago, it started fine in the afternoon, but late in the evening when I was taking the car back in the garage, it did not want to start.

I tried about 10 times in a row, and just did not want to start. I opened the hood to see if there was something obvious just to find out that the wire that runs from the alternator to the starter was showing signes of overhearing and was obviously very hot to the touch.

Any suggestions?

My Lifeliner had similar issues but turned out it was the automatic choke on the carb. Had carb rebuilt and eliminated that problem.

I have other issues but not the time or the place to discuss.

it does sound like a heavy current draw. the dual batteries have enough amps to spin one a single battery won't. so you don't discover the problem as fast. but be sure and check all your connections first. surprising how the corrosion will build up under the battery posts. first thing I do is clean them make sure everything is tight, the rotating switch to. change any supishes cables or ends to. then I go and change the starter. which was what was out to begen with
