New pics of my 49 S&S Combo

I usually don't post a lot of pics of my coaches here, but here is a couple I thought I would share. I took these by the house I have always wanted since I was a kid in my hometown. When I arrived I saw it was for sale and they were even having an open house so I finally got a chance to look inside this unusual house. The 49 just looks right sitting there.

Very nice photos. They look quite "period-correct".

That is a very cool house. If you've truly wanted this house since you were a kid, now is the time to buy it. You'll probably never have the chance again. It's probably expensive, but you've got 30 years to pay it off. There's a saying I have on my wall: "Regret for the things we did can be tempered with time. Regret for the things we did not do is inconsolable."

My favorite picture is the black and white.... it looks like it was taken 60 years ago when the car was new. The television antenna on the roof also adds to the "authenticity" of the photo...

Are you young enough?

We all hope you are young enough to do all those stairs without any problems! Like the others have said, you have time to pay for it!

That "Queen Ann" victorian is a great backdrop for the photo, and it is not hard to imagine the house as a funeral home. It and the car look very period correct for the shot. I count 3 floors, plus it must have a basement as well. I also noticed a detached garage futher back on the lot that would make a great new home for your 49. What is the asking price for the old girl, and how many square feet does it have?

To answer your questions, it has 3 stories, plus the attic and basement. It has 5 bedrooms, 2 3/4 baths, 2 full baths, two parlors, library, marble fireplace, the third floor use to be a ballroom, the dining room is completly round, with others half round, spiral stair case from main to second level, servants stairs in rear, the list goes on and on. Approx square feet: 5017. I would love to have it, but it is 40 miles from me now in the wrong direction, needs work (of course, what old house dont) but has many large curved glass windows a couple of which are cracked, and the taxes alone would kill me.

I like the photo with the antiquing also, as some have said it looks like it is an old pic of when the car was new. Thinking about going back sometime soon to see what other kind of shots I can get.

If this house was transplanted to my town its value would be, at minumum, ten times the current asking price.

Do you know who it was built for and when? I'll venture a guess it was constructed in the late 1800's or very early 1900's.

If it were transplanted to your town, none of us could afford the taxes!!!

Terrific house, terrific car! The car reminds me of a '51 S&S combination I saw many years ago in the parking lot of an antique store on Rt. 12 near Ypsilanti Michigan. It was a good candidate for restoration, nothing more. A few years back I drove by there again, and it was gone. I have no idea where it went. I do remember, however, that even though there was a key in the ignition, it didn't turn. Tom

That was why when we first saw it we wondered what was wrong with it, usually in that town something like that would be well over $500,000.

It was built in 1906.

To ED, the garage is only a two stall, an old carriage house. As you know I have a 4 stall where Im at and still have to park one outside.
