New Australian Hearse

Not a bad looking coach, although I think they should have molded the roof into the cab. It looks like a cap set on top, almost like a camper shell.

Not bad looking from a design standpoint, but a little too sporty looking for a hearse if you ask me. As much of a fan of the Holden platform as I am, it just doesn't seem right to me.

I like it too, but one thing I will never get used to is the hatchback door. I know its easier to load and unload but to me its not very classy.

its a lot better looking than the hideous Lincoln that we are being offered here in the states! The pop out side windows are interesting to say the least!

Need some handyman work?

Keep in mind
A: As a former colony of England the traditional full side windowed design is typical.
B. GM only has the Holden platform to go from there - this is the US older GTO, still-born Pontiac sport-truck, Pontiac G8 and more recently the Caprice, soon to be the Impala. This is basically the only RWD platform available to GM builders there. It looks way too sporty at the front and more like an electrician's truck at the back, but eh, they are miles from civilization. Still looks like a DIY guy in a hurry. And neon lights? But what baffles me most are the Ikea drawers in the sides.

LED back lighting Harry; no neon.

Pop out windows and slide out drawers aren't new to hearses btw.

kind of too sporty looking for me...not very classy looking
Looks like something TOP GEAR ( BBC version )and the STIG would take out on the track !

Attila... what is that picture of ?

Ikea drawers in the side..LMAO !

me I don't like the rake. you brought the nose up level and it would look better. more dignified. but I will say this is the best new design I have seen bar none. the little things like the drawers makes more since then rummaging around in a cubby hole for the necessary like the jack and church truck. you can see it's a tight small car. the cap look over the roof is minimum compared to most of our new ones. a higher roof with vinyl would be all it would take to look more traditional to "US". we are all stuck with the cheep hatch now. and it's not easier to load into a tall man will bang his head on it every time. try carrying your corner of a heavy load and ducking at the same time. dumb just plain dumb. you can't open it inside either. need another 4 ft on the garage, if you don't bang it on the ceiling or door opening. but cheaper on a more expensive car is the way they go. like I said this is the best looking new car I have seen. but they could have made the lincoln look better.

question...what purpose is the opening side window ? beside flowers

That's pretty much it as far as I understand. Probably helps with cleaning the interior too though :)

I think it's a good idea too. Back in the 1930's when the limousine style hearses were so common in this country, this would have been a great idea. Much easier than trying to put stuff up on those awkward window trays.

Well I am purely guessing about the side windows, here goes. Since there are no other side doors, I think they aid in centering the casket.

Overall not a ugly car.

The front needs to be higher. Looks like a '70s car jacked up at the back.

The roof over the windshield looks like a air deflector.

I like the easy access side drawers. Not sure how they would hold up over the years with corrosion and wear.

Opening side windows make they easy to clean.

White... no class in my opinion. Should be black. Make sure it has air conditioning in hot parts of the world.

The hatch... if they opened up to a 45 degree angle above the roof, that would get the thing out of the way and no issues with tall people.
Accubuilt think it is a nice idea as their cars come with it now too.

I have a Pontiac Montana mini van with a hatch and dislike it.
The door has a harder time in the winter with cold hyd. cylinders too.

I had a Honda Civic with a hatch before that opened quite high and loved it.

I think this Holden Commodore hearse is quite handsome! The base vehicle might have been the van that's a factory offering in the range - think "ute with a roof" - and is sometimes used fopr traffic duty by the police forces Down Under. I wonder how those admidships storage drawers with the delicate-looking runners - they resemble the ones on the filing cabinets in my home office - would fare on a continent where they used more road salt?
