Need a part # - voltage regulator

I tried putting this under general discussions. Anyone happen to know the part number for a 1935 Oldsmobile 6cylinder/6v voltage regulator.

I don't know of any difference in voltage regulators any one of the 6 volt after market should work. one can swap the cover to keep the GM look. unless it's burnt out a point file will clean the contacts up and if necessary one can re adjust them.

voltage regulator

GM voltage regulators come in several types. My experience is limited to Buicks of the 30s. The original regulator on a 37 Buick was a 5 connector type. Those are real hard to find. Then they went to 4 and 3 connector styles. How many wire connectors are on the regulator for your Olds? Are you going for authenticity or just wanting something that works? You should make sure to polarize the system after installing the new regulator. Most any good parts house might be able to get you a new regulator. It won't be in their computer. Insist they look it up in the book. Any 6 volt regulator should do the job as long as you get all the wires hooked up correctly and do the polarization.

Olds regulator

Eric,
The regulator you need will work for the 6 or the 8 cylinder engine. The original number is Delco #5880. An after market number is 2703. These regulators have a fuse inside. Keep your old regulator and check to see if the fuse is good. These are odd fuses. No matter what the amp rating they are all the same size. They are also very, very hard to find. I have sent you contact info in a PM. One of our members contacted me with this info.
