It seems hard to believe that Hospitals would still have a pro car Ambulance. Well, Kishwaukee County Hospital in Sycamore Illinois, had a 1970 Superior Pontiac 54 inch headroom Ambulance. I have been trying to buy this car for 4 years. Thanks to Dan Britlinger they were reminded to call me and let me know the were intending to sell the car. I towed the car home because the battery was dead. When I got the car home, put a new battery in the car and cleaned it up, it turned out to be a very respectable rig.

Bull. Don't even gloat, eww (insert swear words), that hospital woman made me so mad. I offered more than you, before you! She "wanted to sell it locally" despite an offer of cash in hand the next day, the despicable female. What did you pay, 2500?

I have been working on this hospital to let this car go for 4 years they called Dan to get a value he mention that I was a few miles away so they finally called me after many years of leaving my number. What I paid has no bearing, there was no way I was going to let that car escape after all these years.

For your records, this is a 51" model. Superior didn't offer a 54" Pontiac until the 1971 model year.

Thanks for the info.. I was going by the roof sign, some of the Pontiac hightop have a rise behind the sign and this one dosn't. I assumed it was like the 70 Superior Cadillacs

The Pontiacs had a higher frame "kick up" over the rear axle than the Cadillacs through the 1970 model year. Therefore a pre-'71 S/P had lower headroom than the S/C even though the same size/style top was used. For instance, the same top on a '59-'62 S/C with 48" headroom would've offered 46" in an S/P. Because of a frame design change the '65-'70 models had a 3" headroom difference between the Pontiacs and Cadillacs using the same top.

Bruce: Looks like an excellent addition to the fleet.

As Steve mentioned, in 1970 the model was available in 48" and 51" headroom. With the 48 the roof sign "stuck up" while with the 51 it was flush.

Given the color scheme I think you really have to agree that car would be better in my garage with my 66 Pontiac and 75 Cadillac. We can discuss when I can pick it up.:myopinion:

Congratulations Bruce! That is a good looking car and being a Pontiac really adds to it's appeal for me! I really like it. Best of luck with it!

Ron, you need to give up a Poncho to gain one... and you know where I live for delivering that '66!
:hide:

I have been after Ron to sell me that '66 since the day he bought it. If we were on line and taking numbers, I think I might be in front of you Dwayne, but I really doubt that matters, especially since it isn't for sale.

Another great find Bruce. Any pictures of the interior?

I still think Tony wins the award for waiting the longest for a car...12 years if I remember correctly.
