friend of mine stopped in today to share some pictures with me and ask me if I was interested in this car. were i can tell it's a early 50s Pontiac and I'm guessing it a national. but anyone else get it closer. right now it's about 100 miles away and deep in the snow.

This car appears to have a 1952 front end, but a one piece windshield and side trim that started in 1953. I'm guessing that this is a Barnette from looking at page 256 of the Black Book..

I'd be interested.... send me some information if you are not... thanks Paul

It is definitely a '53. But is it possibly an Economy coach (note window graphics). And there is lack of a "Barnett" or "National" script, or where they could have been, on the lower front fenders. This looks to be all original.

Fantastic!

Another great find! From the pictures at least, looks like it's in really good shape and complete. Trim intact except for the left headlight. Glass all good.

If you get a chance Ed, please post some interior pictures.

This'll be a nice addition to someone's collection. Gotta love a '53:thumbsup: but then again, I'm biased.

I let them know I'm interested. but it will be a month or so before we can run over to look at it. I'm not sure if I can go along or not some of these guys protect there stuff a lot. according to them is was one of those running when parked things and has been parked in the last 5 years or so. sub post to be a number of parts in it so who knows . the emblem missing from the grill may be there. any one have a picture of a economy tag? I thought it was strange that I could not see any evidence of a name plate. with out a picture of the rear it's a guess. keep everyone informed

any one have a picture of a economy tag?

I saw a pic of an early 50s Economy Pontiac hearse. It was taken of the back of the hearse. It looked like there was a tag on the rear door. It was positioned under the belt moulding on the left side. The shot was too far away to make out the tag clearly but I assumed that it would be the coachmaker tag. Can't think what else it could be other than the FH name maybe. Can't find the pic right off. I'll keep looking.

If someone has a good pic or an actual example it would be great to see it.

we had quite a discussion at Fling about this one a few key things are the rounded tops of the center doors and the the way the lights are molded into the top. everyone agrees that it's a small builders car. but with out being able to see the back there at a loss.

well we got over to look at this car and get a few more pictures . so here is the back side. I can't find any kind of marking for a maker on it at all.

chrome tail light ring

Was the chrome tail light ring a Pontiac thing? I know the Chevy used a very similar light in 53 and 54. That break in the paint on the lower left quarter just under the tail light area looks like it could have been lettering. Maybe it is just my eyes playing tricks on me. Like looking at clouds when you were a kid. Did anyone look under the hood for a data plate other than a GM plate?

:toocool:

then Marks in the back are were they shoved it around in the yard with a bucket loader or similar instrument. same as the front end. to bad they had to add damage to a car that had no damage on it when they got it. but that is typically. the only data plates are the gm ones. but I'm leaning to the economy, but I don't have any good pictures of them. based on the shape of the back window the drip rail and the rounded corners on the rear doors. Barnetts were square. I'm hoping some one car pin point it with the trap door in the back or the cabinets.
the last shot is what will happend to your parts car is the squarrles get in it. anyone want to make christmass wreaths???
