Miller Meteor Reunion

WOW, a Criterion! This is not fair "I WANT ONE TOO!" Looks like your are having a ton of fun already.... I see that Criterion came all the way from Colorado and I think was featured in Zach's video "Hearse Driver". Must have had some paint work done though since "CRITERION" is no longer on the doors.

Alright, now you are making me feel pretty damn bad for missing this.:(

The gang from Tenessee is on the road this monring and was having breakfast at Denny's somewhere. Drive safe LeeAnn for I'm sure you do not want ANOTHER speeding ticket. :p

Spoke to Jeremy last evening, and he said that he was doing the driving. Since he got a GPS, he no longer needs a navigator, so Leeann has been relegated to the back seat drivers position. :D

doesn't make any difference which one as there is no divider in the car. so it's either a back seat driver or a back back seat driver. but I'll bet is company up front.

Well, if you're wondering (I know you're on the edge of your seat), we made it home OK from Piqua. On the way out, we convoyed with Rick Duffy, in his '64 M-M Classic ambulance, along with "special guest" George Hamlin, who Rick had picked up at the Pittsburgh airport. Dad and I, and Pate, were in the truck with our '70 M-M Volunteer ambulance on the trailer.

First, Rick had a problem with the car sputtering. He bypassed a rest area and the car shut off next to the rest area on-ramp. Turned out, he was out of gas. I went ahead and bought a gas can and gas for him and brought it back. The car started fine. Once he was full of gas, he had no further fuel problems. The vibration was another issue.

He was full of GASOLINE, in the CAR!

Then, I was driving and felt a sudden change in the handling of my truck/trailer, and looked back to see one of the trailer tires disintegrating into pieces. We pulled over and Rick and George helped me change the tire - fortunately, my trailer does have a spare. In Piqua, I bought a new tire so I wouldn't have to go home with no spare.

Rick still had a vibration in the wheels. Turns out, the left rear wheel was held on with one tight lug nut - the rest were loose, and wore oval holes in the wheel itself along with wearing the lug nuts and studs down. The nuts on the right rear wheel were also loose but had not caused any damage. (He recently had the car painted, which included removing the wheels to paint the wheelwells.) It's amazing the studs didn't wear through and the wheel fall off causing a wreck - he's very lucky! A local Sears auto shop managed to find him new studs and nuts, and they mounted the spare so he could drive home. He'll get a new wheel from Carl soon. Meanwhile, he was carrying around his nuts in a sack and showing them to everyone!

His LUG NUTS!!! In a ZIPLOC BAG.

If the meet had a hard luck award, his was harder than mine so he'd win.

His LUCK was HARDER, he had worse luck. Geez, folks.....

Anyway, we convoyed back as far as where he turned off near Wheeling, WV. We got home without difficulty, he had no problems that far so I hope he made it OK.

Got home a couple hours ago myself from the M-M Reunion! Another great time was had by all as you can see and tell! Glad to see everyone who was there and thanks to Tom Caserta, Tony Karsnia and all the M-M guys who made this possible!:D

Kids nowadays!

During the Miller-Meteor Reunion, I took delivery of a 1965 M-M Classic 48 ambulance, thinking this would be the perfect "first car" for my son, Mack. Got it home and he seemed pretty impressed. However, there was no fooling him... He still lays claim to my 1975 Lifeliner. See photos below.

(BTW: The '65 is safely inside my curio cabinet. As much as Mack likes the ambulances, he's still an active 9 year-old who is not quite ready for a Jim LoSasso-built professional car!)

having fun

There is probably a law about how much fun we had in Piqua at the MM Reunion. I think the fact that Jeremy got there late in the course of events had something to do with there being no cops called on us this time.
A great time was had by all. This one may have been extra special for some us as we were 'home' with our coaches.
Even Rick Duffy had a good time after his coach was fixed, but we will let him tell that story. The luck of the Irish is with him. It will make for a great parking lot story at some meet down the road.

recorded history

Jerry,
As always these are great pictures. Another case of history being recorded for the masses.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures.

ya I vote he keeps it. I have seen the loose wheel thing once on the interstate. tried to point it out to the man driving but he acted like I was a pirate trying to board. if the holes aren't wallowed out to bad to catch the lug nuts then it will work for a spare. some one just slipped the wheels back on to move the car and never torqued them. big mistake if your going to do that never put on all the nuts. at least then when you go to put the wheel cover on you know something is missing
