Miller Meteor Curtain Rod Question

Pictured below are the two curtain rods for the side door of my 1962 Chevrolet. The original hardware was been missing when I acquired the car, and I believe that it was removed when the car was sold coming out of service. I acquired these rods from a 1962 Oldsmobile ambulance that is identical to the Chevrolet. Since I wasn't the person that removed the rods, I have no idea what holds the rod to the door on the one without the cut out on the end. From the mark on the center of the rod, it appears that this rod is the upper rod, since the mark on the rod aligns with the holder on the door, and it is too short to be the lower rod. (see second picture). The door has screws in it on both the top and bottom where the original buttons were.
thanks
Paul

or a pocket or a strap. but from the appearance of the door. there is only room above or below to have put a screw with out going threw the curtain rod. the notched one is the ones I sent you off the 72 c/b. the notch on them slid into a button. same as your 69. the neat part of these cars is seeing how they did things from year to year. the bad part about not fetching parts your self is that people don't understand you need everything. now there could have been a slot cut into the door like a louver. it that case there would be nothing to remove from the other car. but with out see the car or having a picture one will never know. so far counting yours I only know of 3 in this body style.

Paul, your setup looks identical to my '59 Comet Olds. However, I'm going from memory. It's been in the restoration shop for so long that I can barely remember if it's a landau or limo style! I am attaching the best photo that I have at this point of the interior hardware. I will be heading out to the shop sometime next week with some miscellaneous trim clips and weatherstripping that I have ordered from various sources. I will get some better shots of the curtain hardware at that time. But if my memory serves me correct, the end brackets are a two-piece clamp. The base secures to the body, and the secondary piece screws over top of it once the curtain rod is in place.

The notch at the end of the bar

I recall what looks like an empty spool of thread sliding over that. The core of this spool is open and a self tapping screw (prob size 8) secures it to the door or interior. That's why you can see a circular mark around the notch.
Good luck

He has that side figured out, thats how almost all coach builders mounted the rod for many many years, its the end that does not have a hole or slot he is wondering about.
I think the post of the Comet would be dead on, since C/B and Comet are the same company. the rods he has came from a Olds (C/B). They are for his C/B Chevy.
No idea why Miller-Meteor is mentioned as the thread title, this was before Wayne Corp. aquired C/B.

Paul, sorry for the delay in getting these shots for you. The restorer was in town last week and picked up the parts I was holding for him, so today was the first day that I had a reason to head back out to his shop.

All of the curtain brackets on my Comet are the same as pictured......top and bottom. Although the photo with the tape measure shows it to be a little less than 1", the brackets actually measure exactly 1" square. The base plate is 1/16" in thickness, and the cover plate with the bevel measures 1/4" thick.

Hope this helps!
