Michigan EMS Expo 2012

We had the opportunity to have our car included in the exhibits at this years Michigan EMS Expo held at the Devos Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan 4/19-4/21. We were busy attending classes during most of the weekend and didn't get to visit as much as we would have liked to. The few people that we did get to talk to appreciated the fact that there is an organization dedicated to preserving these cars. Some of the older viewers even mentioned starting out in similar vehicles. Thank you to PCS member Russ Dalziel for letting us know about this opportunity. It was fun seeing the looks on the young new EMS providers faces when they looked in the rear of our car. There were brand new state of the art ambulances on display as well. Having an older pro car in attendance I believe has given the younger people a healthy respect for the equipment they have to work in today and a new appreciation for the equipment that was used in the past.

Looks good. I always display at the EMS Today expo in Baltimore (next year, in Washington). And just as you say, it’s good that the old-timers remember and the youngsters learn. My favorite is when the kids ask, “How did they do CPR in that?” Well, I had the ’53 Packard at the last show, and I explained that it was built 7 years before CPR was invented. They have no concept that there ever wasn’t CPR.
