Medical items needed

Nicholas Studer

PCS Elected Director 2022-2025
Few items of old gear I'm looking for - trolling eBay for quite a while has been unsuccessful - though I shall continue. I did collect the old med gear before deciding to get the ambulances to put them in.

I am quite happy to make it worth your while either cash or trade (I have a lot of newer medical gear, both .mil and civilian - if you're into that kind of thing). I am not a something for nothing kind of guy.

1. Reeves stretcher - Similar to what is currently sold in orange or gray - http://www.reevesems.com/userfiles/Image/products/Stretchers/101-Flexible-Stretcher---RSS0003.jpg . However, I'm looking for the older all-black version the Chrysler was originally equipped with.

2. Wood slat splints - similar to attached photo. These go along with the Reeves sleeve and apparently a set was donated by Duchess County to RCFD when the ambulance went in service . Saw one on eBay and just wasn't quick enough...

3. Robinson Orthopedic Stretcher - very similar to the Ferno clamshell as recently discussed at http://www.professionalcarsociety.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16522 . I have actual Ferno scoops I'm willing to trade if desired.

4. Thomas half-ring splints - I've got a few of the green adjustable military models - but none of the non-adjustable kind typical of civilian ambulance services. I'd like to get one for both of my ambulances.

5. Stretcher wall hooks as pictured below (circled) for my Cotner-Bevington. These are different from the currently sold/shorter hooks from Ferno, and they were of no help. I'm guessing due to the addition of the scoop stretcher bracket, Miltonvale or Junction City removed the passenger side ones.

6. Metal oral airways typical of E&J and other resuscitator kits. My E&J Lytport - which will soon reside in the C-B - is missing the airways unfortunately.

7. Ferno Model 10 (U-shaped feet) or Model 11 (2 wheels and posts) "road flat" folding stretchers. I have one, but need likely 2 more for my Cotington 48 4-litter ambulance and 1 for the Chrysler. Green or black is fine for me.

8. The news article covering the dedication of the Chrysler-Pinner says it carried a Mouth-to-Mask resuscitator kit. It was either a Globe (http://journals.lww.com/aenjournal/...o-Mask Globe Resuscitator kit, altered 25.jpg) or Venti-Breather (picture below). Nothing on eBay since February...

9. Rico suction canister with white label and metal in-line valve. The Chrysler's canister must have been swapped out at some point during its 30 year service life, and it now has the translucent blue label typical of the late 1970s up until today. You can see the proper canister label and the valve at http://em.pgpic.com/images/vm/rico suction ambulance mount from 1960s.JPG - although that photo actually shows an even older Rico mount than the current style that is correct for my ambulance.

10. Ferno stretcher straps - the 1960s military-style with the slide-through buckle similar to http://asc.army.mil/web/wp-content/uploads/377629.jpg is what I'm primarily looking for.

Thanks for any help or leads! E-mail or PM and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Not a peep over 2 weeks. I'm rather surprised no one has anything I'm looking for they're willing to sell - not even a Ferno cot strap?

There used to be a television (Science Channel) called Oddities. It focused on the buys and sells of a small thrift shop in New York City in the East Village area called Obscura. They had a lot of unusual medical items, funeral-related stuff, and quite a bit of other weird stuff. They may be worth contacting. Also, have you checked with CW in Cinci yet? I hear he has a lot of parts and accessories, but I don't know what personally. I have also heard that there is a shop in Nashville, TN that specializes in repairing older coaches, but I have zero contact info, or even their name for that matter.
You may also want to contact Antique Archeology (yup, from the TV show.) They know people who collect everything under the sun. Apparently they're pretty approachable guys. Might lead nowhere, but it couldn't hurt anything but your pride and your long-distance bill to try.

I told you that I have all the goodies that you are looking for, since I took them out before the ambulance shipped. You should have just stepped up with fists full of $100 bills, and it all would have been put back into the car... :D The treasure hunt is part of the fun of older cars.

Mr. Hord - thanks! I'll check in with the C.W. Coaches folks - they might have the hanging hardware, you never know. Unfortunately, a lot of the 1960s-1970s medical stuff hasn't really become truly "collectible" and it's more in the "old junk" category that folks just throw away and/or don't bother to list on eBay...

Paul is right, if only I had stepped up to the plate he wouldn't have thrown everything away. Indeed, it is fun trying to find this stuff. I think I've been pretty successful thus far - it's always only a matter of time before stuff turns up somewhere.

I disposed of a lot of stuff in the "old days" that I did not think was important, but now everyone is asking for. I'm sorry now that I did not keep more of it.
I may have some of the hanging hardware, I'll have to look in my sheds.
