Man buried on his Harley

What a waste of a classic motorcycle. This man was buried riding his Harley somewhere in Ohio.

no me I don't think I want a stick up me just so I can set upright forever. but these are the things that a thousand years for now will cause people to belive things about us. all the digital data will be lost and no written words any more but the man buried on this will be unearthed.;)

buried on the bike

The pictures in the article are the same ones that were in our local newspaper. Mechanicsburg is only about 17 miles from me. Nice little farming community. This guy has been planning this for many years. Seems a shame that he took a nice 67 Harley with him. But it was his Harley.
Mechanicsburg is in southwestern Ohio about 20 miles north of Interstate 70 and about 20 miles as the crow flies east of Interstate 75.

Im sure this is not the first time this has been done in the world (just we have so much more media outlets now), but its not any different than being buried in your car. They at least should have had his eyes open, not a good idea to be on a bike with closed eyes!

But its not any different than being buried in your car.

This one always comes to mind when that is mentioned.

Sandra Ilene West (January 2, 1939 – March 10, 1977), was a Beverly Hills socialite and Texas oil heiress. Her unusual burial request required that her brother-in-law, Sol West, have her buried in her 1964 powder blue Ferrari 330 America. She was to be wearing specific attire (a "lacy nightgown") and the seat in which she was placed was to be reclined at a "comfortable" angle.

Her Corvair for an Eternal Cruise

From Associated Press
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Three decades after Ralph Nader portrayed the Corvair as a casket on wheels in his book "Unsafe at Any Speed," 84-year-old Rose Martin was laid to rest in her beloved 1962 model.
"She prearranged with us, and this was her wish. It was very well known throughout Tiverton that she wanted this," said Robert Ferreira, a director of the Oliveira Funeral Home in Fall River, Mass.
The widow and mother of three, who died Saturday, drove the flat-looking rear-engine white car around the town of Tiverton, population 14,000, for 36 years.
"She just loved the car. She didn't care what it cost to fix the car. If the car was broken, she wasn't one to ask you how much.

Tell you want though, with no grave liner and that thing is made of plastic and plywood it won't be long before someone's grave will be collapsing.

Thats a waste of a nice bike and kinda creepy ! what the hell did people think when they saw the truck and trailer drive by with the guy sitting there dead as a door nail ???? I think just a picture of him on his bike in the casket would have been just as good ?? remember people ....he's DEAD !!

Or possibly could have had some strange belief about the end of the world and judgement day,his thought if we all are gonna meet our maker he wants to be first, passing everyone on his Harley.who knows, but if its what you want and have planned for it,probably saved a family feud fighting over the bike,me, my family knows I wish to be cremated,to which they state why do you want to burn twice.;)

They could have at least spent a bit of time building a decent "casket".

That has to be one of the worse fabrication jobs I have seen in a long time.
Must have been is grand kids who built that after grade school let out.

Like it or not, it was HIS WISH and it was granted !!! Gotta love that part !

I hope they wired him up ! If you know anything about a body decomposing over time, the Harley and himself won't really look like that for too long.

It WILL look like the average Harley with a wet spot under it soon enough !

Not for me, but way to go to his family for making his wishes a reality ! :applause:

Darren

P.S. Everyone should come up with a personal final farewell and let it be known. Doesn't have to be extreme or tacky, but something that makes it personal.

One more thing.....

This proves that, YES YOU CAN, take it with you if you want too !!!

:applause:

Not to mention the risk of vandalism, as it would be much easier to dig up a non-vaulted grave for thrill seekers (and that Harley can't be cheap). I thought most cemeteries require a grave liner?
