Lifeliner is alive!!!

The Lifeliner run on its own for the first time today! Took some work getting there. After doing the mystery oil soak on the cylinders, new coil, points, condenser, starter swap, fuel pump and two fresh battery's I got her fired up today and running on her own! Will have to swap out the carb again due to a choke issue with the one running it now. Didn't get in gear due to low transmission fluid and I didn't have any on hand ether. Will swap the carb out (again) tomorrow and add trans fluid and see what happens then! Meanwhile here is a video and update! Probably the first time this car has ran since about 1990!

Put a can of Seafoam automatic transmission conditioner into the trans and fill it up with Dextron III or higher transmission fluid. I wouldn't be running that engine until you have oil in the transmission, for fear of damaging it.

Well done Jeremy! Always nice to see the fruits of one's labour.

If your Lifeliner is anything like mine it is very sensitive to low transmission fluid so like Paul said. make sure you have the correct amount. Too much fluid is also not a good idea so add a little at a time and keep checking the level when it's warm and running.

most of the smoke was blow by come out the vent hole. you run it a bit then dump a a half a can of seafoam in the oil and let it warm up a few times to work it in before you change the oil. you know the valve covers leak it's a old caddy. and one drip out of the tranny a hour will lose how much oil in 20 years? sounds good :applause:

Jeremy,

Congrats on breathing life back into the "ol girl".....she deserves it !!:applause:
A little bit more and she will be ready for "first out" duty !!!! ;)

Awesome, cant wait to hear my '77 run for the first time, wont be until it warms up though. Did you have to replace the gas tank or just drop and flush it?

Congrats on getting the car going, but personally I would not run the engine without the transmission filled with fluid, regardless if you drop it into drive or not. Just my opinon. Tom

Thats correct, the pump moves the fluid if the engine is started on the GM's. it doesn't have to be in drive.
