learned some stuff and had some fun

took the 72 up to the big city today as they were having there car show down town sponsored by the local PD. I did not win the coveted golden donut award. but I did get a set of fuzzy dice for the most non typical car. this year it covered 3 city blocks and two side streets. a lot of cars of every kind now that we brought up the combo. not one ghostbuster comment till the turkey handed me my fuzzy dice. but a lot of interest and thanks you's as they remember when they were in service. one gal from New Jersey was telling me that her father use to bring home a car just like that every night. she rode in it a lot it, and it brought back a lot of memories of growing up. I primed the pump a little for our meet. but most everyone was very entertained by it.

I forgot to tell you what I learned. one really needs to drive there car more often. I discovered that if you put it into neutral it will make that last shift and runs so much quieter going down the road. I knew the indicator was off but really. so guess what I get to do tomorrow. Brendon was telling me he had trouble getting it to make that third shift. will apparently so was I. around town no big thing. but it might have save me a tank of gas going out to Rochester. it just seemed to me that it was always wound out and the downshift never worked. will how about that.

Put a bottle of Seafoam transmission tune up into it.

and adjust the indicator. on track for today

we were parked just down from this guy here. good old H.W. himself. he and Calvin are on the same street so we were parked between them

here are a few of the down town. like all cities Rapid down town is suffering the can't park people go to the malls stuff. they do this to get people to come down town. businesses complain about it not helping to close down the street the old catch 22 thing again. but it's still a interesting place to run around the main down town is about 8 blocks.

I do not mean to hijack this thread, but since Paul mentioned seafoam trans tune, Ive often wondered if after running the car with it in for awhile, should the fluid be changed, or is it ok for it to stay in there for lets say 100,000 miles, since it seems this is a fluid that rarely gets changed.
Also, should it be used only when having issues, or can it be used as a preventive just to help clean. I use other seafoam products in my gas all the time for storage, and its a great product.

if you read the can it's purpose is to use as a flush before changing oil. but it doesn't say how long to drive it before you do. like all the additives for transmission it design is to remove varnish from the valve body. the nice part of the th400 is it is a all most indestructible transmission. my indicator is way off and I knew it was off just not that far. I was running the car in second. lucky the design of the transmission is such that at a set rpm it will make the planetary shift into high by it's self. but it holds in second a long time.
