Lange Luck (Murphy's law) strikes again

I just wanted to let everyone know that my brother Kerry fell 16 feet off a ladder while trimming trees in his HOA community a couple of days ago. He fractured his pelvis in 3 places and will be hospitalized for a while. This falls into the "no good deed goes unpunished" category. Unfortunately, our much anticipated RV trip back to the midwest this July won't be happening now. The outcome of the fall could have been much worse, considering the other options available, so we are both thankful for that. Please keep him in your thoughts. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.

I am sorry to hear about your brother, I will definately say a prayer for his recovery. Please wish him well.

As an aside, I just now noticed that you and your brother have the same names as two twin brothers that were car auctioneers here in the NJ and Pa area back in the seventies and eighties, pretty funny, isn't it? BTW, I have no idea what their last name is.

Not good news at all. Sorry to read that.

Hope he is back on his feet as soon as possible.

I agree with Steve, a cute nurse would sure help !

Here's to a speedy recovery,
Darren

Thanks for the thoughts, wishes and prayers guys. I was discharged from hospital this afternoon after an eleven day stay. There's not much that can be done for pelvic fractures other than letting time run its course. No physio required either, which is good. Just have to stay somewhat active and use a walker and crutches for the next six to twelve weeks, followed by a cane for a yet to be determined time frame. I'm told that it takes up to a year to return to normal.
I was looking forward to a couple of beverages to celebrate, but will have to wait another week or two until my pain meds run out. Will miss walking my lab and the midwest motorhome trip that we had been looking forward to.

All in all, I consider myself very lucky. As Terry pointed out, a foot in either direction could have been disastrous. Two lessons learned here. Stay off ladders and stop volunteering for potentially dangerous situations. Life is too short.

Kerry
