I have only noticed this on 93-96 superiors and S&S . It comes off with 2 screws , you could add it to any 93-96 or just notch out the inside cover of yours. Great place to store a extra door key.

I took that off of mine. Don't need someone getting my door key after stealing my gas (which has happened).

On my 1962 Chevrolet, I found an original numbered key that was taped to the wire harness, under the dash. The black take camouflaged it so well, that if you didn't know where to look, you wouldn't ever find it.
