It's alive, It's alive.....

I received a call from Leo Maren III yesterday informing me he got the Criterion up and going. He says he made sure all fluids were there, hooked up the battery, turn the key and after a few cranks, "It's Alive!" it started right up. He checked the lights and sirens to make sure they were working. He gave it a bath so it should be good to go. Leo goes on to say this thing is LOADED with supplies and equipment. He also gave me more history of the car and as to why it features twin ditch lights compared to other Criterions as well as the reason for the whip antenna on the left front fender. Now I'm thinking I probably could have flown up and driven it home but, will stick with my current plan.
I leave Oct 1st late or early Oct 2nd heading to New Jersey to pick this up. Mike Barruzza will probably stop in to help me load it and strap it down properly and might even get to meet Bill Marcy for lunch that Saturday.
Don't you just love the PCS.................

Low-Band Antenna

Richard: I am curious as to the "reason for the low-band whip antenna being located where it is" other than a clearance problem where it was garaged? MM

You're right Mike, it is a low-band antenna and was used for a scanner of sorts still in the car but until the dash. If you look closely at Criterion's in New Jersey, (maybe other ambulances as well) you will see this antenna as well as the double ditch lights. As I understand it the doule ditch lights were a requirement.

I'm so excited to get this thing home.

I can meet ya for lunch somewhere along I-95 in MD on Monday if that's in your plans.......

I'm sure by the time Monday comes around Steve, I will be home and checking the Criterion out in detail. Thanks and if something changes will let you know. This is going to be a "Wham-Bam-Thank you Leo" trip!

Jersey Lifeliner and ditch lights

Our 75 has the ditch lights and had the low band fender mounted antenna. As you know it was a Jersey car.

What Criterion? I must be missing something...is this a car discussed in another thread?

It's the car in Richard's avatar. He just purchased it from Leo.

Not sure how you missed it, we have a rule here that every 3rd new thread must be about Richard's Criterion. :D

Edit: It is also the topic of the post directly above mine...

I know I have been a little detached and distracted lately, but how did I miss this? What are you doing with the Lifeliner Richard?

Terri says I can keep it Ron. YEAH!!!!! I think by her attending the PCS Int'l Meet she got to witness first hand the devotion PCS people have for these cars and it seemed as if everyone we talked with had more than one pro-car. So offically I am a (2) Pro-Car man but I can never be a Ron Devies with the stable you have.
