It happened again last night...

Tony Karsnia - Deceased - 1971-2020

September 12, 1971 - November 2, 2020
Saturday night...Anoka Classic Car Show is what we do around here. It was the nicest Saturday evening we'd had in a long time, so the crowds really turned out. Anoka-Champlin Fire Dept. was having a corn feed and had their old Seagrave pumper out on display. Gene Rafferty brought his 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 and we showed up with our 1973 Superior Cadillac Crown combination.

This might otherwise not be overly newsworthy, especially since we've been sharing several reports and photos from Anoka lately, but what continues to be pleasing is watching the mobs of people curiously inspect the professional cars. We have a great time visiting with folks and answering questions. Our Crown often puzzles people: "It looks like a hearse, but it has those two red lights and says 'ambulance' in the window" or "Oh, it's an ambulance, but it sure looks like a hearse to me!" And so, we proudly explain, over and over, that it is actually both a hearse and an ambulance.

Another thing that's neat about getting these cars out and about are the leads that come out of the blue. For example, I'm currently waiting for a guy (whom we met in Anoka) to bring me photos of a 1968 M-M Cadillac combination he owned back in the '80s after it was retired. From his description of the car, it may well be the same one our friend and fellow PCS member Kent Martinson worked in while he was in St. James, MN in the '70s.

Next weekend, the Northland Chapter is hosting a "Come Cruise with Us" meet. On Friday night, we'll do the St. Francis Cruise-In and on Saturday evening, we're attending the Cadillac & LaSalle Club NorthStar Region's annual Steak Fry. If you're in the area or up for a road trip, drop on by and enjoy some food and fellowship with us!

Tony, that Superior Crown looks amazing! As long as i've been on here I can't recall ever seeing that gold beauty before. Glad you had fun & really drew a crowd!

Tony, Im sure Bernie is smiling "ear to ear" whenever you take "Pinky" out to display! That car looks better every time I see it!

It's always news worthy when these cars are out and about. The public loves them! I agree, Bernie would be proud. Looks great Tony, thanks!

Tony, quit teasing me that way. I've been impatiently waiting to hear form you. :drama: I'll try to call you sometime this next week.

oh my

Beautiful coach Tony.....the curtains and the interior...( on the back door ) look to be the same as mine. Is it original or have you had it redone...and if so...where did you get your material? Is there a pattern name and a supplier too? and the plaque on the back door...I have two of them on the back of my seats....but the one from the door is missing. Any Leads?

thankyou

Tony, I know what you mean about bringing the combo out. I hear the same thing when I bring out the 49. Christie and I were laughing so hard when one time these two old ladies (prolly in their 80s) were arguing with each other about if it was a hearse or an ambulance, it got so intense it looked like they were ready to throw punches! by the way the car was in ambulance mode at the time.
