Interesting Mercury Ambulance

I watched this his Historical Montreal video on YouTube. Half way through this video there is an interesting snip of a 1966 Mercury ambulance, I am not sure if it is a Lehmann Peterson or Possibly a Pinner. The Ambulance appears to be a Canadian model Mercury any ideas as to the coach builder???

Yup, as posted on my facebook page, that's a Demers conversion. Typical roof with Chevy tail lights in front, they have the same on rear.

This one is probably from the early Ambulance Royale fleet. Godin had 2 tone green ambulances, Sanscartier only used S&S, Vimont were white back in 1967 (year of the license plate).. my guess is one of these:

Demers started around '66 or '67, I know only one still existing example of a 1967 Ford well preserved. their technique was easy, you bring a station wagon, they cut the roof and glue another one to allow you to sit the patient in the back.

They used those chevy tail lights as flashers in front and rear until 1973 I think.

here is another Demers conversion from the rear; this one is a Chrysler Town & Country from Entreprises Funeraires Ltee, Alma, Quebec.

It is my understanding that Lehmann-Peterson was indeed building a prototype of a Mercury ambulance, but that it didn't quite get 100% completed before it was crushed when Lehmann's roof collapsed due to Chicago's blizzard of '67.

I think there is a post somewhere here about this one, 2 doors on the rear are very unusual.

I have a longer footage on DVD of this one, it was the ambulance attached to the Royal Victoria Hospital downtown Montreal.
