In Michigan...

Well after driving 21 straight hours I arrived in Flint, MI this morning to gather up that gas pump from Brady. But, I ran out of gas while driving through Dayton, OH at 2 a.m.. WTF!!!! With the Buick pulling the trailer I no longer am getting that great 28 mpg I'm used to. Lucky for me a state trooper came by and after doing a Ron Devies on me, (license, registration, up against the car and spread em, and a what are you doing in my state boy) you know the routine, he gave me a lift to the gas station. Nice guy and BIG!!!!
Last time I was in Dayton, OH they stole this Buick. New route from now on.

Richard, the standard greeting from a trooper in Ohio is..."may I see your license, registration, and proof of insurance please...". "Up against the car", and others are all optional. LOL,LOL

Just a litle friendly advice from an "old guy".........

A hard and fast rule in my business is....in the winter, you fuel at 1/2 tank (allows plenty of fuel for idle time if you get jammed up in bad weather), in good weather fuel at 3/8's to 1/4 if you are in strange territory, less if you know where your next fuel stop is. Our new trucks carry 160 gallons ( 152 usable), that has changed our way of thinking about fuel stops pretty dramatically.

My experience in Ohio is you can drive a 1995 4-door Cutlass Ciera any way you want. All others are fair game. A 94-96 Impala SS is also close to a free pass with troopers from what I have seen.

Richard, as brendan said glad you made it here safely also, that is long trip even driving at 2am . have a safe trip back .

Good thing it was Ohio, not Arizona... If it was Arizona, you would be sending a plea for money to pay an immigration lawyer....:rofl1:

Am I the only one who sees the humor in running out of gas when trailering you own gas pump? Glad the trooper was able to help you out, Richard. :)

florida tags pulling a trailer doing a dumb thing a 2am you lucky you didn't have to sort it out in the morning. had you not told him you were going to Flint and he knew that there wasn't enough money left there to buy a trailer load of dope you would have been. beside when the trooper took you for gas the back up unit brought the dog in and he checked it out for them. the trooper was nice but it was the dog that gave you the free pass. stop by Kent's and pick up that thing for me on your way home will you

Richard, I'm curious-what kind of Buick that can get 28mpg can also pull a trailer? I don't think a Roadmaster is capable of that mileage, and I guess the trailer could be a 5 x 8 to haul a lawn mower or something. In your case I had in mind a trailer at least capable of a full size Cadillac, if not a Criterion! :)

not just one but two. of course the problem is they are not connected to anything. but then neither is Richard. how about a man from michigan now living in florida that wants to return to michan but drivers all night from florida to get something so he can ship it back when he moves back.

I'm guessing the thieves stole it, filled it up with gas, then abandoned it when the fuzz caught their scent. Then Richard picked up calculating his mileage where he left off...

Richard..

Call me on my cell -810*691*6352- and let me know what time you are coming so I can be home. We have a 48 hour visitation going on so I am at work and we are all tired!!!

Well, Richard has his pump.

Richard came by this afternoon and picked up his pump and hose and nozzle. He seemed to be satisfied with it. I wasn't looking to sell it, but it seemed to be just what he wanted so I am glad I could hook him up with it. Now I can buy some more parts for the Packard. We took a few minutes to visit. Wish he could have stayed longer. Makes me all the more anxious to get to Piqua. Seems like the only pals I have anymore are PCS folks.

And to think that a year ago, you were ready to quit the PCS and walk away

Running out of gas at 2:00 a.m. was funny to hear about. I think it is going to be even funnier to find out what Terri is going to say when he gets home with all his purchases and what he is going to do with not one, but the two gas pumps he purchased, all the items Scott Walker gave him, and the other huge item he acquired. Where are you going to put everything, Richard? You might just have to build an addition to the house.

This was waiting for you in CT, but since you kept heading South, I guess that I will just keep it...
