**Important Message for International Meet Attendees**

Attention PCS 2011 meet attendees:

Due to major safety issue regarding the construction project on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway's track, the railway has canceled all trains until at least the first week of August. This means that we will not be able to ride the vintage railway during the Thursday of the meet. I'll start processing refunds this weekend. Attendees that paid via PayPal will get a refund via PayPal. Those that paid by check will get a check or cash when they get to the meet. I'm super sorry that we have to pull this from the itinerary at such short notice, but we have no choice. The railway had a very close call where a train came close to derailing on Wednesday afternoon, so they have canceled all train service until further notice.

We have tried to listen to our attendees who have said that they needed a day to chill out during the meet and we've tried to help out our members that are wanting to sell things at the meet as well. The new itinerary for Thursday is more laid back and offers time for a swap meet too. The official photo shoot has been moved to this day as well so we have more time to relax on Saturday afternoon.

The new Thursday schedule is as follows:

Morning / early afternoon activities
-Enjoy the time relaxing in the county's largest hotel swimming pool
-Bean bag toss and ladder golf games in side yard by the parking lot
-Buy/sell/trade procar items during our swap meet
-Purchase a caricature drawing of you or your professional car (tentative)

12pm-2:30ish - Official meet procar photo shoot

3-5pm - PCS board meeting

5-7pm - Dinner on your own

7:30pm-LATE! - Double feature at the Midway Drive-In Movie Theater. We find out the movies that we will be seeing on the Tuesday of the meet. You can stay for one movie or both, but you might want to take a nap during the afternoon because it will be a late (but very fun) night. Remember to bring an FM radio, a chair and some bug spray so we can watch the movies together under the stars.

See you in 17 days!
Sarah

Sarah there are several small towns along the rail tour we wanted to go to, are they within reasonable driving distance? We wanted to stop in Peninsula.

This can also be a day for the foodies to go to restaurants and for people to check out Amish country, which is a little over an hour away.

Whether you relax with us by the pool, play yard games outside, spend the day swapping car stuff, or go out, remember that board members need to be back by 3pm for the meeting and drive-in attendees need to be back early enough in the evening to convoy with us.

Awe crap, that really sucks Sarah!! That was one of the big things Jill and I were really looking forward too!! and I'm sure there are many others that were as well. oh well, Thanks for letting us know and on your part it was an excellent idea and would have been lots of fun!! I'm sure we can all find something else to do, Jill and I will probably do some hiking in the park and stuff, maybe we should bring our bikes??!!

Dana.

oh, and I think I used paypal with my credit card to pay for everything (that was the only time I have ever used paypal) should the refund then just be reapplied to my credit card??

Dana, I'm bummed out about this too. This was the tour that we sold the most tickets for by far. It was definitely going to be a hit.

Biking on the nearby Towpath Trail through the national park, which you can pick up in downtown Peninsula would be a great activity. You'll be able to check out some gorgeous scenery, see some animals and look at the old locks from the canal. The Towpath Trail goes right next to the old canal, and was the actual path that the mules walked on as they pulled the canal boats along the Ohio and Erie Canals.

If you don't want to haul your bikes out here, you could rent them from Century Cycles in Peninsula.

For the PayPal reimbursement, I know that if you purchased with a bank transfer through them, refunds usually go into a PayPal credit, which you can then manually transfer back to your bank account. With a credit card, I'm not 100% sure though. We'll figure it out. :)

If paid with a credit card through PayPal, then PayPal will credit the credit card that you used. I know this because I just got a refund through PayPal and it went back to my credit card issuer and shows as a credit on my statement.
If it was a PayPal payment, with PayPal taking the money from your bank account, then it will remain in your PayPal account until you make the request "to withdraw money". Usually this takes 3 to 5 days to show up in your bank account.

I am sure we will find other things just as interesting to do,I myself would like to see the amish areas, and yes more money for popcorn at the movies

Wow, that really sucks, but there's nothing we can do about it. We were looking forward to it being one of the highlights of the show. My step-grandson Mark is joining us for his very first PCS Meet, and I know he was looking forward to the train, but I know he's looking forward to the go-karts too. He's hoping they're not the speed-regulated kind, but the kind you can really run people off the road with! Tom

I dont think the photo shoot should be changed to this day, just keep it how it always has been. Some cars do not come until Friday night. Besides, that will blow my whole day because since I didnt plan on going on the rail thing I made other plans that will now have to be changed.

John, as of this date we have 192 guests already scheduled to join us for the meet.

80% will be there by Wednesday
89% will be there by Thursday

There's a few reasons behind doing the photo shoot on Thursday instead of Saturday. We are going to quite possibly have a record number of cars to judge on Saturday. The longer judging takes, the further that pushes back when we can start the photo shoot. It also means, the photo shoot will take a VERY long time too. This is an issue when people want time to relax or even just shower before the banquet, and anyone involved in the photo shoot might not have that time if the judging takes a long time and the shoot takes a long time. Also, there is another event at the hotel on Saturday afternoon, which will make moving 100+ cars around the parking lot quite difficult.

By having the main photo shoot on Thursday, we could take pictures of upwards of 89% of the cars in a more relaxed environment. If there's cars that we don't get pictures of on Thursday, we could try to get pics of them on Saturday instead.

No matter what we do, we will never get 100% of the cars at a formal photo shoot. Even when we have it on the Saturday, I know a lot of members that don't take their cars through the photo line because they would rather have time relaxing in the pool or doing something else before the banquet. Heck, I'm one of them sometimes and when I have done that, I've seen other PCS members hanging out in the pool blowing off the photo shoot too. So even if we did it on Saturday, like it or not, we'd still miss cars.

No option is completely perfect, so we're just trying to figure out which one is the best in our situation.

John, if you miss the photo shoot, I'm sure that we will have photographers that wouldn't mind sharing their photos of it with you. That way you won't have to miss out on your plans if you have something scheduled.

photo shoot

John's right.....a lot of the cars don't arrive until Friday and a few are only there for the show on Saturday. This is an important issue for the photographers among us. I'mn partucularly concerned because it's our plan to run a photo of every single car at the meet for the special 2011 Meet Issue of TPC. - Walt

Walt, if you look at preregistrations 89% of the registered attendees will be there by Thursday. 98% are in attendance by Friday. So far, only two PCS cars are scheduled to show up for Saturday only. A few local funeral homes are planning on showing off their cars on Saturday too. This meet is going to be big, like I saw you mention in another thread, any picture taking we can do before Saturday could be a good thing. There is going to be A LOT to photograph. :)

Sarah does have a point....the more cars we can shoot before the big show day the better. We always try to do this. The serious photogs do a good job of lining up the cars. It'll all work out. - WMc
I think Walt's post on this ended up in the wrong thread somehow, so I'll bring it here with my thoughts.

Sarah called me for my opinion on moving the photo shoot to Thursday, and I said some of the same things, about cars not coming till Saturday, etc. She did sway my opinion. If most of the cars (not all, but most) are there Thursday, and if we really do get a record number of cars for the meet Saturday, perhaps it would be a good idea to photograph all the cars we can get on Thursday, which would free up some time on Saturday. Even if we only get 60% the cars on Thursday, we only need to photograph 40% on (hectic) Saturday. It's different, and that scares folks. I'm willing to give it a try. Embrace change!

And yes, I'm supremely disappointed in the loss of the train trip. But what can ya do? It's just bad luck.
