According to his caption, this was one of the first motorized hearses operated in Chicago, created for F.F. Roberts circa 1909 by mounting an old horse-drawn hearse body onto a White steam car chassis. Were this a Packard, the top of the radiator opening wouldn't be straight, but would have an arch like the outer shell.
