I need your suggestion

I am trying to convience my wife that we need to take our kids and make a trip from Minnesota to Detroit to tour the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, then make a stop in Ohio for the PCS meet. Also, at this same time is the International Packard Show in Galena, IL. I have never been to a PCS event and my wife isn't into cars at all!!! I have her about 40% on board with the whole idea. However, she said a day in each place will be enough for her.

Here is my question....What day or two would be the best in Ohio? We won't have a pro car with us. I am thinking the Saturday car show would be the best. Am I correct? IF we make it that far...can I register on site? Any info would be great.

Saturday is the big day and if you can get there for Friday too, that would be awesome. Yes, you can register in person, but if you register online by June 30, you'll get a free meet shirt too. hope to see you there!

SATURDAY would be the day !

It would be fantastic to meet you and you will be AMAZED at your first PCS meet !

There will be cars there that you will really enjoy seeing !!!
Some will inspire you and some will blow your mind.

Seeing the post on your 59 S/S was great. This meet will change your thoughts regarding these cars forever and will truly motivate you regarding that car.

YOU NEED TO BE THERE !!!

Even if you have to find something else for your family to do that day, make sure you are there ! They would likely enjoy themselves as well !

For your wife, I will provide her with a bouquet of flowers ! ...if she lets you attend !

Change that 40% to 110% that you will be there.

See you soon,
Darren

Saturday will have several activities in the parking lot as well as the cars. There will be a D.J., games, a bar-b-que, sketch artist etc. We on the committee are trying to make this more than a "show and polish" day. I hope this will help you sell it to your clan, 'cause it's true.

Tell her she will love the PCS meet. The cars are colorful and interesting, and so are the people! This will be a wonderful opportunity for her to see what interests you.

If she's hesitant, I'd say skip the Packard meet. I've been to a Packard meet, and even if you drove a Packard, it's a lot more boring than a PCS meet, and the people are generally more uptight. (Ooooh, some folks will kill me for saying that.) The big luxury Packards are cool, though.

Spend a day on the PCS showfield in Hudson (Saturday). Join the Northland Chapter and hang around a few of our "family friendly" meets. By the time we host the 2014 PCS International Meet in Rochester, MN, your wife will be clearing her calendar for the entire week to be there!

I have a feeling your wife will change her tune after she actually arrives at these wonderful destinations. The Henry Ford Museum, on the grounds of Greenfield Village has THE fully restored Memphis bus that Rosa Parks on which Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, the Lincoln that JFK rode in when assasinated, and a million other incredible exhibits. Greenfield Village has THE Menlo Park NJ laboratory in which Edison invented the light bulb, disassembled by Henry Ford and rebuilt on the Village grounds, as well as THE Wright Bros. Bicycle Shop, disassembled from Dayton......... on and on, a fabulous place.

20 mnutes drive from Greenfield Village is Hitsville USA, the original studios and offices of Motown, another incredible place, terrific tour. Standing in that original, unretouched studio, you can just feel the presence of the Supremes, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Jackson Five. Quite amazing. I'd be glad to help recommend places to stay and eat there, as I know the area very well.

You'd only be 2 hours or less from Hudson, so seeing all of the things you mentioned would be very reasonable. The list goes on and on, of things to see and do. Go for it! Tom

My suggestion is to hit all three places. I have been to numerous Packard meets and have never been disappointed yet. I have belonged to the Packard Club since 1971, a lot of nice people and nice cars. Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village is a must, and will be enjoyed by your whole family because there are more than just cars there. Of course the PCS meet is fun too. I have only been to 2 but had a great time at both and wish I had been to more!!

Have Fun!!!!

Mike

I agree with Tom... before or after the PCS Meet..... the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Villiage is a must.... car person or not... I'll bet she won't be bored there. I have been there twice, once when I was about 10 with my family and then again about 15 years ago. MM

Richard We want People to come to our Meets Not Stay Away LOL

Russ

Hey Russ, once one has attended a PCS International Meet there is no stopping them after that. I get a feeling the Ohio meet is going to be a "RECORD" meet and one that we will not forget.

I know people are as excited as I am and anxious for the day to arrive when we depart. FYI, take your camera and take pictures along the way so Mark Goodwin and his brother can create their wonderful DVD of this year's event. Flip that camera to video and get em posted on Youtube for all to share.

:wwpics:

Well, my wife said she thinks it would be fun to go to Ohio and she has said the Detroit would be interesting. However, I CAN'T FIND ANOTHER FUNERAL DIRECTOR TO COVER FOR ME DURING THE WEEKEND! :whip:

We are planning on going to the Packard Meet for a day or two and then back home :smiley3:

Bill

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY !

Really sad news !!!

Well, at least you tired.

After next year, you won't have far to go for the 2013 meet.
Hope it isn't the 2013 meet before you make it to one.

Take it easy,
Darren
