Hi All,

I have to remove the up-and-over wrap-around roof trim that's on all '60s Superior high-top ambulances. It's adhered to the fiberglass roof. Has anyone ever removed this trim? Is it attached by clips or is it glued to the fiberglass?

Jim

The roof band is held to the roof by fasteners that are bolted through the fiberglass. You will have to remove the headliner to gain access to the nuts.

I will look to see if I can find pictures from when I removed the band from my 69.

I could not find pictures, but here is a clip on YouTube that shows the fasteners. It comes at about 45 seconds in the video. Hope it helps.

that looks as I would have thought. if its cast and you can't see a screw it's speed nuts on the back side. a few exceptions for the blind voids that have barrel nuts. the only way to tell is to slip a putty knife under one corner and if ti lifts up it's barrel nuts. most of your script is put on this way and some of the larger trim. but it will always lift a little if you slide a knife under it. if it does not lift it is got a nut from under neath. most all of your Stainless steel or Aluminum trim is always t bolted thew the body, or will have a combination of t bolts and screws. there was vary little glued on in these years. the exception is the name plates for the MM and CB and the big square ones for superior. again a knife slid under the trim will reveal how it is put on. I have seen the bands that go over the top use the plastic clips that ride on the welded stud. most anything put on in that manner will wiggle is you try to move it.
