But not just any ambulance, one that has a special background for me! It all started last December when I joined the PCS, Northland Chapter and this web forum. I was looking through the thread about Pontiac Pro-Cars and I came across a picture that was posted of a '63 Pontiac Ambulance that had been owned by Tracy, MN, but had been traded in at Ringdahl's. I wrote that I was thrilled to find this picture as my grandparents live in Tracy, and a close family friend of theirs had been very involved with organizing the town ambulance service. His name is Homer Dobson, and he was the Reverend at my grandparent's church. When I became an EMT, I already had a great interest in EMS history. My grandmother mentioned that Homer used to drive the ambulance, which I did not know. After that, I always pressed him for stories of his days as an ambulance driver. He mentioned that they had a couple of Cadillacs and a Pontiac. Well, Tony Karsnia replied to my post and told me to check the Classy Cadillac thread. When I did, I found pictures of a '77 Lifeliner in front of the old Tracy Ambulance building with Homer standing in the background! I asked Tony if he knew the whereabouts of that car. He thought he knew where it was. I told him that if this car ever came for sale, it would mean alot to me to have a chance to buy it. Tony did some research for me, and he was able to locate the car and get me contact information for the family that owned it! I visited with them and explained my link to the car. It turned out that they were interested in selling. Last Friday, my wife and I traveled to Wisconsin to pickup the car! It is now in my garage, ready for some tuning up to get it road worthy. I am so excited about fixing up this car and someday restoring the body. A big "Thank you" goes out to Tony for all of his help and advice, as well as the rest of the PCS and this message board. None of this would have happened for me if it wasn't for all of you!
