How to tell you work in a small town funeral home

We had a service today after a night of freezing rain.i went in early to check the parking lot, which was a solid sheet of ice. I could not find a contractor that could be there and sand before visitation which started 2hours before the service. So my daughter our funeral director and me. Salted the entire 150 car parking lot with a walk behind lawn spreader. If people only knew what it takes to conduct a funeral. Our business office is at our other location our director stopped there to pick up paper work stepped out of the van and fell flat on his back. Not hurt but was more than willing to help with salting when he got over here

I just got back from doing a removal and we are getting snow, freezing rain and now rain ...it was a fun drive.....thank god it was just a nursing home I was going to, the parking lot was aready salted

Ah the good ole days of doing funerals in states with ice and snow. I remember many a days getting up early and shoveling snow and salting the walks at ZELLEY's Funeral Home in Flint. Honestly it was a joy to be part of. ZELLEY's also ran ambulance service but had no garages so they sat outside. Finally figured out if we put a space heater in the ambulance it was warm when we ran those 2-3 am runs.

Really Richard NO GARAGE ? that must have been fun ?

After I just said that I looked at a few pictures of the MYERSTOWN FIRST AID UNIT in PENNSYLAVANIA where my 78 Horton came from and realized that back in the 1970s the new type lll rigs wouldn't fit into the smaller Pro-Car garages until they built larger garages they sat outside .

Hoe to tell you work in a small town funeral home

Was watching the news and see that now the ice is gone we are going to get 5 to 7 inches of snow. We don't have any services scheduled yet this week. If we do it will tell us how well our new used coach will Handel. It is the first rwd coach we have had since trading our 75 combo back in 1988

Brazzells '95 was a rear wheel drive.

The 95 was rwd. But we never used it in the winter. Matter a fact it was only used a few times and was parked in the garage for several years. Before you got the plates expired in like 2008 or 2009. We always used the 99 eagle or the 87 eureka in lingonberry. Ricky did use it for a few months
