how many lites will my limo run?

My daughters tolo dance is coming up in December and the theme is heros and villions.
I was thinking of taking the extra lights that came off my old superior ambulace and install them on the limo. I was just going to use the red bullet lights on the grill and use a power inverter to run a string of rope lights under the car. I have two blue lights interior lights also I thought I would try to mount somewhere I plan on just running off the battery cable with a fuse and then run a wire to the dash with a switch and then back to the grill with some flashers.
I have the standard cadillac alternater and battery nothing fancy.
This will be at night with all the lights of the car already on.
so far I don't have permission yet from the women who run my life and plan these thing out yet but I am trying to get ready and yes I know that I cant run the lights on city streets I plan on only doing it when we arrive at the dance.

you can run any number of lights. it just for how long. if your going to be only a short run don't worry about them. wire them direct to the battery to avoid any over load problems and run them for a short time. click them off and let the car run a but will let you can get it started again when you want to leave. toss the jump start battery in the trunk juat in case and your good to go.

Inquiring minds want to know- What is a villion? Did you perchance mean million?
John Dorgan

Hay Paul
Its my kids that are in school to learn that spelling stuff I put my years in and now I don't have to worry about it.I can't even help my middle school son with his home work. For get my daughters honors classes she passed me by 8 years ago.:stupid:
Thanks for the help I still don't have permission to go with them to drive for the dance.:3_7_11v: With a teenage daughter she will ask me as she is putting her make up on for the dance:pat:Then be suprised if I am not ready.
It has been fun going through the boxes of spare parts seeing what I have.

You can always run the lights off an extra battery that you have hiding in the car somewhere. That way you dont have to worry about running the engine battery low and having to jump it. Or run them in parallel if you have room in the engine compartment.

I'm trying to talk my daughter into going to her prom so I can take her and some friends in my car. Still haven't convinced her....
:)

duel battery do work ,sort of

Hi Nikki I do that with the hearse on holloween I buy lighted punkins and other stuff and go to the RV store and get 12v light bulbs for them and wire to a battery to a 120v power strip and place the battery in a box in the back of the hearse, But the battery gose dead fast so for the hearse I might go head and wire a duel battery and a isolatore for charging and run down to the storage compartment with somesort of outlet. That is my winter project this year, The limo with the lights off the ambulace I think would drain the battery to fast and then no way to recharge and I don,t have time to get really fancy with the wireing before next weekend so I just want to pull a hot wire with a fuse and a switch. and this is a one time thing
Saw the photos of your coach and love it you have the same purple that I have for my seats and door panals.
Remenber half the fun of this hobby is working on the cars as much as you can. My son and daughter have helped in the resto of both my cars and it gives them a feeling of part ownership of them, not that I would give them any part of owership but at least they think they do:angel: Hope you can do this with your daughter my kids love the shows, My 12 yr old son loves the differant cars and my 17 yr old daughter loves the boys who loves to look at the cars:pat:

Mike........... I knew what you were saying, however, I was just trying to help John Dorgan since he couldn't figure out that "millions" wasn't the correct word. I don't know of many here that haven't made an occassional misspelled word, including myself. I have my wife to point out my mistakes..............

I've been showing my Chevy truck for 16 years now and my daughter has grown up around car shows and all this stuff, but she just isnt into it. She'll be the one who inherits all my junk, so I hope that some day she will appreciate it! Heehee.

Sell everything instead of willing it to someone that woun't appreciate it. That is what I am going to do starting right now. Everything is on the block for disposal........
