Hot! Hot! Hot!

Mike Burkhart - Deceased 1948 - 2016

December 30, 1948 - October 21, 2016
It's been hot and dry out here in western Kansas. We have had 51 days this year so far above 100 degrees. We have broken the record of 47 days from 1934 during the dust bowl. This will be the all-time record. We usually get 21 inches of precipitation a year, and so far this year it is 4 inches. To make it worse, we are going into our dry season now.

We have had a few fires, but not as bad as TX.

2011, the year we will remember!!!

it has been a different year as far as the weather is . I have things blooming now that should be done or did not at all when they should. strange stuff like that. wild swings in tem for us are a normal. the only month with out snow in SD is august. now September is here it was 100 tuesday, Sunday they are calling for frost at 6000.time to get ready for winter

Meanwhile in Ohio

In the 90s today, not supposed to get out of the 60s on Monday.

In the high 90s to low 100s here, and haven't seen rain in a while. Monday its going to be around 82, and stay in the low 80s for a couple days after that. We haven't seen temps that low in months. It could always be worse.

Usually by now here in Cactusland our nights are dropping into the low 80's and consistant low 100's in the daytime. NOT!!!

Monsoon/nonsoon pretty much missing for weeks other than some humidity.

If we are talking humidity, Thats what the south is known for. On a day down here where its 90, it can feel like anywhere between 100 and 105. Or, a big steam bath for better words.

Finally, a Canadian Cool Front just arrived here about an hour ago. Looks like our high will only be about 85 today. Hooray!!! Got a liitle sprinkle of rain last night too.

Relief is on the way!!! Thank you to our friends from Canada for the cool air!

It hasnt gone over 90 here in Seattle all summer and I have no need for air conditioning in my apartment. My summer time electric bill runs about $38 a month.

Yep, it's hot

This is Bastrop Texas just outside of Austin. Things are hot and getting hotter. Over 400 homes have been destroyed so far. Fires are burning all over central and southeast Texas and thousands upon thousands of people are being evacuated. This is truly sad for our state.
