Hood noise reduction

The hood on car seems to make a lot of noise when I close it. This probably also translate to additional noise when I drive.

I think that the hood sheet metal taps the hood braces underneath.

It looks like someone injected expanding foam maybe to solve this problem in the past. I assume that there is something more substantial that goes between the sheetmetal and the frame.

Any suggestions?20250901_180712.jpg20250901_180719.jpg

The round indentations are the glue points from the factory. If you can lift up the skin and see threw them it's loose. Silicon will work to glue it back down. You won't need to try and remove the foam as it will stick good to it also.

The factory used a form of heavy-bodied seam sealer that would harden with age and then fall out. I believe that SEM and 3M have a product that will work for this application. I am not a fan of using Silicone for this type of application, as you never know how well it will adhere or last, given the heat produced by the engine from below and the hot sun's rays from above. Your car also had an insulation blanket at one time, which also helped to keep the noise level down.
