Historic "TPC"

I was rummaging around thru some old "TPC's" yesterday and found a copy of "the original one"... Volume 1 / Number from the Fall of 1976. Dwight R. Heuinmuller was the Editor and Walt McCall wrote all the articles. There were (37) members at that point and according to the financial statement posted on Page #4, the PCS had a gross income of $265.00 thru 7-3-76, less $27.42 in phone expenses and $20.00 for envelopes leaving a balance of $217.58 in the treasury. Of the original (37) members the only ones (I recognize) as still being involved are: Walt McCall, George Hamlin, Mike Riefer and Dr. Roger White. It also listed the inventory of cars each member had with C. Robert (and Trudy) Lingo (obviously a practicing funeral director) having a total of
(33) units ranging from a 1835 horse drawn to a brand new 1976 Cadilac / M-M Hearse, mostly all Cadillacs, but also (3) Rolls-Royces and a 1941 Lincoln Ambulance. (*) I wonder if this one was the famous all red (one-off) unit that ended up with Fred Hunter's Collection? Anyway going thru this including the classified section with a member from Sacramento, CA offering a $100.00 reward for anyone that could find him a 1954 Henney-Packard Super Station Wagon was quite a trip down memory lane! MM

we really should get this scanned in for our store. don't know if Matt has any left or not. but as he gets down to the last copy of each one if we scanned it in PF file then we could still sell it as that in the store. or he could print out the copy and sell it to you. it's not the same as the original but it reads the same. us johnny come latelys could then have one to.

the dodge club i belong to, they offer all back issues on a disc i think that is a great thing to have and would be a good thing for info for everyone in the club. And yes i realize that it would be alot of work for someone to do. But you could put me down for one if it was made.

The story of the Henney Super Station Wagon is related in detail in McPherson's recent Henney book. You're right, there was only one and that was destroyed in a fire. Good photos of this car also appear in the book - color and black & white.

Scanning of TPC Volume 1, Number 1, Fall of 1976

Mike, can you scan and post here? Nice find.

Richard I will be glad to scan it (18 pages) in a PDF Form (all I'm smart enough to do), or I can mail it to Paul or other person to post it if the other person that bought it in a ebay auction can't do it easier? Let me know. As I recall I bought this copy at either the Lancaster or Pittsburgh PCS Convention, so the Godfather in Florida may have more? MM

Its hard to believe how much the newsletters improved over the years, I have the original issue #1 also. The only issues I am currently missing is #62-#74. About once a year I glance through them all to keep my memory fresh as to whats inside so I can offer help to members when needed.
