Hello all! (An introduction)

Hello everyone! My name is Loren Baldwin, and I'm the newest member here. Some of you might know me from the other pro-car sites but for those of you don't, please allow me to introduce myself. First off, I own a 59 Miller-Meteor Futura that I'm in the middle of restoring so I'll be asking many questions as I proceed along in my restoration. I'm also a car collector, my cars include a 1964 VW Karmann Ghia, 1965 Ford Galaxie, 2 1969 Mercury Cougars (you can read about one of them at www.my69cougareliminator.com ), 1971 VW Squareback, 1975 Beetle, 1996 Chevy Impala SS, 2003 Mercury Marauder, 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra and a 2004 Corvette. I'm also looking to add to my collection a 57 Superior Limo-style endloader or 3-way, so if anyone knows one for sale in restorable condition for sale, please let me know. Thank you for your time and I hope to become a contributing member to this site!

Welcome...

Welcome to the site Loren. You will find alot of folks here that are willing to help you in the restoration of your '59. You will also find that we are picture hounds, so don't be suprised that very soon someone is going to say that they want to see pictures of your car. Hope you enjoy your visits and we hope you join the PCS so that we can see you at the meet in 2011 in Hudson, OH.

Loren, welcome to the site. You've come to the right place. Like Shawn said, we would love to see some pics of your restoration when you get a chance.

Josh

Pictures you ask and pictures you shall receive! These are in my workshop, my galaxie and one cougar are at the house.

As you can see, the body is stripped, now the massaging and paint is next. I'm pretty well versed on body and paint work, but interiors are not my specialty and since this is my first pro-car restoration, I have no clue at all on how to redo the interior.

Welcome to the site. You definetly have a lot of people here that can help out. I have a 1960 S&S Park Row combo that I have been able to get a lot of help on from here. Good luck with the restoration

Wow, I think that is the fastest anyone has ever posted pictures. Love the Cougar Eliminator, thats just one of many on my dream car list. Keep us updated on the 59, and thanks for the pics.

Josh

Nice looking '59--the body looks to be in pretty darn good shape! I am sure there are many people here who can help you with the interior for sure. I have always loved the '69 Cougar as well.

Welcome Loren! I hope you'll consider joining the PCS as well-it is a great group of people and a valuable resource for information and help on your restoration project. You have a great looking collection as well as a great looking workshop! That's just as important as the cars. I love the early Cougars and '69s are my favorites.

Welcome to the site Loren. As President of the Ohio Chapter, I would also like to invite you to join our chapter as we are one of the largest chapters in the PCS and one of the most active as well. We are the hosts of the 2011 International Meet in Hudson in July and would love to see you there in person and meet all these people. Where exactly is Loveland, what are you near?

Hi, Loren! Welcome to the group. It looks like you have some neat cars. You're definitely in the right place for finding info on your '59. Like Ron and a couple others said, our international meet next summer is July 12-16 in Hudson (slightly north of Akron). It would be great if you could make it. There will be lots of PCS people to hang with for the week and a ton of neat procars. If yours is done in time, you're welcome to bring it too. For more info on the meet, check out. http://www.pcs2011.com

always nice to see a fellow enthusiast here. some shop you have there looks like a old dealership. best get a piece of flex line on the compressor. that iron pipe doesn't stretch. the parts house that makes up hydraulic lines can whip you up one with 1/2 pip ends in no time. did you get any pieces of the upholstery with the car? is so you have a pattern. the interior is all most as expensive as the exeter to re do.

Thank you for the invite welcome Ron. I would like to join the Ohio chapter, but unfortunately I am away on business until the March timeframe. Perhaps when I return I could join but I will try my best to make it to the meet in July barring any job requirements. Loveland is 20 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

I had planned on getting a piece of flexpipe but was unable to find one that worked when I built all the plumbing. I have the entire interior of the car minus the floor and front carpet. The biggest issue I have is that I bought the car mid-restoration from an older gentlemen so I have no clue which piece goes where! Thankfully though it's all useable and will be making patterns as soon as the bodywork is complete!

kind of like a jigsaw puzzle doing it that way. the only way would be to put it together first using a few screws then you'll know if you have it all, its a layering process. the wind lacing is first then the headliner then the sides start going down to the floor.

Sounds like you'll be back just in time for our 2011 membership drive then. :) Private message me your email address and I can send you a copy of our latest newsletter so you can check it out.

Hi Loren, welcome to the group! I'll see if I can track down an old friend of mine here in Georgia who owns a '59 M-M landau hearse. His interior is complete and original, so maybe I can get you some photos/information on what's in there. You may not get exact materials for things like a headliner, floors, and panels, but I'm sure you can get very close. I'm also sure that the materials carried over into and after 1959, so some members here with similar cars can probably also help you out with the interior restoration. Do you have all of the interior trim bits?

Welcome Loren

Loren,
Welcome. If you need help identifying parts I may be able to help. My coach is a 61 Miller-Meteor limo style combination. I am only about 70 miles north of Loveland. Hope you can make it to Hudson in 2011.
Again, welcome to you,
Mike
