Hamlin history

While walking through the Crawford Museum I had the pleasure of having Bee Hamlin inform me that George Hamlin has a connection to Abe Lincoln.

Thank Bee!!!

Hannibal Hamlin was born in Paris Maine and served as Lincoln's first term VP. See link: http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=H000121

In Paris Maine the Hamlin Library has an extensive history of its most famous favorite son that takes up the entire second floor. Is this George's relative? The town is what would be described as humble beginnings, but Hannibal Hamlin went on to accomplish many great goals.

Strangely enough, I learned of this sleepy Maine town and its increadible link to our country's hidtory when I went there to attend the once a year showing of a private car collection owned by Bob Bahre of Maine and New Hampshire race track fame. I never made the connection before, interesting.
