Had to do it....

I tried everything to get the lights over the bench in the rear compartment of my Criterion to work with no luck. I got the two lights over the cot to work but nothing over the bench. I tapped into the hot side of the working lights and ran a wire to the hot side of the lights not woking. They now are working. I put in a red bulb because one light bulb was broken. Robert Shephard tells me it is impossible to locate these special bulbs with a funny design etched into the bulb glass so, one has to do what one has to do!

PS: Thank goodness it was easy running the new wire through the headliner.

picture of what your talking about. I don't remember any special bulbs. lenes yes. I thought all the bulbs were standard. the lenes were a parklight out of something.

Here you go. The light bulb itself has some type of etching that is molded into the glass. Oh by the way, the puppies like the Criterion too!

OK I remember that light . they would be the overhead lights. dome lights are the rectangular ones with the stars on the lens. the overheads may have had a higher wattage light then you can get any any parts store. they don't come on with the dome lights, if I remember right. but off the switch on the attendants panel. or it's a three way switch with off on and door positions. the three or four rectangular ones came on with the doors. it may be a double set, one that the driver can control to.

Yep, these are the bulbs I need. Anyone got any? I sent Kevin an email but he does not have any and will get a part number and try to find them via google.

When I got my first look at a Criterion in 1974, I was told that the four ceiling mounted lights in the patient compartment were surgical anti germimicidal lamps. I also recall this being mentioned in some marketing material associated with the car. The Criterion was unique in so many ways, and I thought this feature was anonther wow item.

While in Piqua a few months ago, I had the opportunity to meet Joe Grimes, the co-designer of the Criterion. It was during one of my conversations with him that I asked about the patient compartment lights. He confirmed that they were indeed anti gemimicidal lamps, but I can not recall where they sourced them. I have made several attempts to find replacements via the internet, and so far have not had any luck.
