Had a nice visit

Had a nice visit with Bill Leverett yesterday. Several weeks ago, Bill contacted me to see if I was anywhere near Lacey, WA as he had purchased some "ambulance stuff" from a wrecking yard there. I said I was about 65 miles away and then he asked if I ever got down that way. "Why yes, Bill, Im going there in aout a week or so". I picked up his parts and yesterday we met halfway between Seattle and the Canadian border. Its always good to see Bill and hes a very gracious gentleman. And he even brought me an "accessory" for the rear of my hearse!

My thanks to Rick!

Rick beat me to the post! A big thanks to Rick for helping me out and being so accommodating.

This all started with Rick sending out an email (I think in early August) of a Craigslist ad for an old fire truck that the owner is going to scrap if he doesn't sell it. Turns out the truck is at a wrecking yard in Lacey, Washington. Now I didn't need the truck but there appeared to be a nice Federal Q2 on the fender, a model 17 on the roof and a Unity spotlight on the A post. So I phoned the wrecker (a real nice guy named Chris) and asked if they would part out the lights and siren if the truck was headed to the crusher...sure thing he said. I asked him the send me some better pictures and what would he be asking for the parts. A few days later got the email and almost dropped when he mentioned a price that included shipping. I couldn't believe the deal I was getting. I called them back an immediately sealed the deal...when he found out I was in Canada he said that shipping was a bit of a hassle so could I pick it up. He lowered the price as he now wasn't into it with shipping. Now I need to go to Lacey Washington or get it to me somehow.

Enter Rick once again. I email Rick and ask him if he ever gets down to Lacey with his work. Rick replies that he's heading down there next week to take his dog to the vet and what can he do to help. Turns out that Rick's vet is across the street from the wrecking yard. Rick makes the pick up for me and hold the items until I'm coming over to his side of the water.

I had a meeting in Vancouver on Monday so arranged to meet Rick halfway from his place to the border. I brought an "accessory" for his hearse to show my thanks for his troubles. Always nice to meet up with Rick although too short a time as I had a ferry to catch to get home.

Thanks again Rick for helping me out...confirms to me what this club is all about...helping each other out. We'll get together again when Ed is out in November.

...and we'll take Cliff too!

Doug...of course you can come! Haven't heard from you recently...how are your cars doing?

Bill, I've been so busy at work that I have had little time to work on either of my ambulances. I think I'm going to tuck the Criterion away in storage until I can properly deal with her. I've had a chance to do a bit of the body work on Annabelle, my '68 Superior, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's at the paint shop in about a couple of months.

Please let me know next time you're going to be in town. I have some "stuff" for you.

I hope Ed will have a chance to pop up this way when he is in the Pacific NorthWest. It would be nice to have a chance to show him a bit of "Supernatural British Columbia".
