with the saddle it's either a Chevy or a pon. bet it's a pon going behind that engine you showed last. now then if a guy was sharp he would look at the gear for the spedometer and go to the next tooth smaller to speed the gage up for the 235s

I,m going with a pontiac transmission , early 70's , going into someone's pontiac ambulance a superior by chance.

Well.....

It's very small and bulky, not unlike a certain Webmaster we all know and love!:D

As in shape as I am...

I don't think I could lift it by myself!:confused2:

man could have saved the 10 bucks for paint they were not painted by caddy but left in the cast aluminum.

Well, we discovered that both trannys were painted Caddy blue about half way down to about where the gear box area starts after they were pulled out. Prolly from when the block was shot blue I guess at Caddy. I though of doing it that way, painting it solid silver or leaving it silver or going all blue. I went all blue so it would have a cleaner look.

I lifted and tugged on it myself CAREFULLY! I could pick up each end with no problems but I didn't try the entire unit by myself though pulling it out and loading and unloading. Loading the tranny I had the fluid drained, I removed the converter, put the tail shaft on the tail gate of the truck and picked up the bell housing end and slid it into the truck. At the rebuild shop and repair shop I had help loading and unloading.

you would be surprised

Jeremy,
You would be surprised what you can lift when it is the last thing on your mind and your wife starts in with 'how long is that going to sit there'?
Oh, that's right you don't have to hear that kind of stuff do you?
Glad you got the 73 back on the road.
Mike

Been there done that. Me and a friend took the transmission out of my hearse on a Tuesday. had it fixed and put it back in the next day. We started putting it back in at about 4pm Wednesday and finished at about 6am Thurday. We only stopped for about an hour to eat. Did I mention we did this on a concrete drive way with only ramps and jack stands. Something I hope to never do again, but something I can say I did.

Proof It Runs & Drives!

I was on the phone with Jeremy Friday afternoon as he was on his way to the local cruse in, he was really exsited to have the 73 back on the road. I have to say, it is nice to see it back on the road again. She was starting to look pidiful just sitting in the driveway. Congradulations! :071:
Hope to have the 67 there next friday night.

Josh
