Got the '56 Superior on the road!

Hi gang,

Well, turns out the culprit was a failed electric fuel pump. Replaced it and that took care of the running issues. Have taken the coach on three 60 mile road trips and it's done just fine.

Filling the tank is the next issue to address. Don't know if the air escape pipe on the filler tube is clogged somehow, but filling it at the pump seems to take forever. Looks like it's manual filling with a five gallon gas can for now until I can get it sorted out.

Anyway, thought I'd share this little video for now of the day I got it back on the road! Good times! :)

It is possible the vent is clogged, but have you tried turning the pump handle/trigger upside down while pumping? I know it sounds strange but sometimes this will help because of the angle the gas is delivered. I have to do this on my 85 Eureka Pontiac, or it keeps back splashing and stopping the trigger.

Glad to hear you got the running problem solved. I saw your pics on FB and never realized how nice the interior is!! Pretty amazing, since it was used for a couple bands.

Hey there, John!

I surely will give that a try. Yes, it does sound strange, but what the heck, if it works, it works!

Yes, looks like the three bands that had this old coach gave it a lot of respect and took good care it it! I got lucky!

Looking forward to catching up with you in person soon, too! :)

Hey there, John!

Well, I wasn't sure if it was a cooling issue or a fuel issue, so it became a process of elimination after a while.

Even though we got plenty of pressure when we hooked up a gauge to the electric fuel pump itself, we still weren't getting any fuel at all in the fuel filter up at the engine. We decided to just get a new pump and sure enough, that fuel filter was full and it's ran like a champ ever since!

The original mechanical pump has been bypassed.
