Last August a few Golden State Chapter members participated in the annual Alisha Ann Ruch Burn Foundation - Peninsula Burn Relay. This is one a of a number of Burn Relays that take place here in California each year. The Foundation provides special services to children with burn related injuries. Fire departments and other public safety agencies, along with corporate sponsors, raise funds for the Foundation. At the end of each fund raising season, the donations are picked up by Foundation staff who ride in emergency vehicles staffed with off duty personnel. The motorcade makes one stop in each city along the route, where a brief ceremony is held and the check is delivered. The Peninsula Relay starts in the "Silicon Valley" at NASA Ames - Moffett Field (former U.S. Naval Air Station - Moffett Field), and ends at the San Francisco Fire Department Training Center. The motocade drives Code-3 during the entire route with the California Highway Partol providing motorcycle escort.
