This book, http://www.amazon.com/history-Ameri...4606/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1327685760&sr=8-9 The History of American Funeral Directing is very good too. It was one of our text books when I was in school.

This book has the most amazing pictures of funeral cars and especially old style caskets. Really neat!

Another one of our textbooks we had and used was and is still a good referance is Types of Funeral Services and Ceremonies published by Professional Training Schools, Inc. 4722 Bronze Way. Dallas Texas. 1 (214) 333-4230 which is a part of the Peirce-Royal Bond Chemical Company. The book is avalible here, http://www.piercechemical.com/productcart/pc/Custva.asp (you may have to actually call them) it covers Liturgical and Non-Liturgical services, Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, Military and Fraternal Funeral Rites, many related definitions and how each service is conducted and the service traditions of each. I still refer to my school text books periodically as referance.
