The fuel gauge in my 67 Pontiac Superior is not working. I can not even see the needle.

Any sugestions on where i should start troubleshooting?

:D Start by putting fuel in the fuel tank. Sometimes that will make the needle move!

Sorry, sometimes I just have to be a smart ass

there is a ground wire attached to the sending unit. It is usually attached to the bottom of the steel floor pan on a car, but I don't know what they attach it to on the professional car chassis. Did you disconnect it when you were repairing the floor. The pictures are of a typical AC?GM Delco fuel sending unit. Yours might appear to be different, but they all work the same. sometimes the sending unit electric coil goes bad, and needs to be repaired. Check the vendors forum for servicing companies..

Now I want to see how many people actually get what I said and how I said it!!!:D:thumb::confused2::p

black wire comes out from the top of the tank and goes to the frame about mid way is the normal ground for the tank. they can get broken off easily. a quick check is to clamp the jumper wire on the tank to the frame. if it registers fix the ground. if the hot wire is off it reads 0 if it's shorted out it will read full. use a test light on it to see if you have power it will be a low voltage sometimes pulsating current. if you have power and a good ground and adn it was reading yesterday it most likly the sending unit. the man told me that the fiber they wind the reastate will shrink over time and then lose contack. but if you have one of the canister type like in the 72 olds. then the float is hung up in it. can of sea fome and 5 gl of fresh gass and drive the car. has worked for me in the past on them.
