Front shocks on '92 Eagle Cad

92 shocks

Jim,
I would think any parts house should be able to get you shocks for the 92. Just make sure you tell them it is a commercial chassis. Sometimes parts look the same but are for the commercial car and not the other cars from that maker. I don't think shocks would be something Eagle would have changed. Don't remember seeing a pile of shocks there any time I have been through the facility.

I think what Mike means is "heavy duty" rather than commercial chassis; something that has not been built by Cadillac since 1984. The chassis for your hearse, Jim, is a 1992 Cadillac Brougham with the 5.7 liter engine. This means that the base chassis (before any cutting by Eagle) was heavy duty, including springs, shocks, cooling, trailer-tow package, etc.

You have asked me about technical manuals for Eagle coach parts, of which I have none. Your car is pretty simple: The only mechanical things Eagle really altered were the driveshaft and wiring harnesses. The chassis itself was already about as heavy duty as it was going to get.

As Mike mentioned, just look for Cadillac Brougham parts via a parts house. The only question you should have to answer is if the car has a 5.0 engine or 5.7, and you know the answer to that.

Thanks to you both. But, Tony, my car has the smaller of the 2 available engines, the 5 liter, not the 5.7. That seems odd in a car bound for conversion, but it is the 5 liter, per the VIN and the data printed under the hood. So, is the proper shock an optional "heavy-duty" one - if Cad offered such in '92 - or a stock sedan shock?? Thanks.
